  • Well TS ufc does seem to have more white fans and boxing tends to have a more diverse fanbase especially Latino and black.

    • Been on this tip for the past 3-4 years. Shortly after Manny and Floyd fight, boxing just declined.

Canelo is exciting but come on...he was fighting guys like Kirkland, Khan, and Smith? You know he’s winning.
Canelo GGG fights breathed some life into boxing tho. Current welters took so long to fight each other, with Crawford still not fighting any of them.

UFC has their best fight their best constantly, and they typically don’t rely on “points fighting”.
3-5 rounds 5 minutes a piece, and you got action.
Not to mention the uprise of Mcgregor.
MMA much more entertaining these days.

I'll always prefer the straight up, hand to hand combat of boxing vs going down to the ground to roll around for minutes until someone gets a hold of the other. Just personal preference on how I prefer my fights.

Someone mentioned awhile ago (may be on this forum, can't remember), that no man should ever be on the ground. At that point you have been defeated. If another man is standing tall and looking down on you, you are the weaker man. This is displayed in boxing at the highest level. You don't need to drop your man and then jump on top of him while he's already on the ground to finish him. It's the idea, that you just sat someone on their ass or back. You are still standing, they're on the ground and you are looking down on them as the inferior man. UFC has that, but boxing is what that is all about.
Unwritten codes of honor, I did Karate as a kid 'I was sent to Karate by my mother because? She did not want me to attend boxing'. I was one belt away from black belt, only really stopped going because none of my friends could get past yellow belt 'I was the only kid in the entire upper class' plus I was involved in other sports. 'Never the less I did enjoy karate'.

Anyway what you are referring to are 'The unwritten intuitive codes of honor'. When kids would have fights at my school, people where looked down upon for kicking or rolling around about the floor 'That was the feeling always after those sort of fights'.

Boxing and martial arts are two entirely different psychologies. Martial arts by its nature is a deceptive art, and it attracts certain personalities 'This is just from my experience and observation'.

There has been no combat sport, which has effected the human spirit more than boxing historically 'And there is a deeper psycho-spiritual reason for this' It has to do with honor and romance 'Which the sport of boxing was born out of etc'.

Most of these people that get into mixed martial arts, are not really martial artists.

Fake. If you actually laced up you’d know boxing is harder than “UFC.” Unless you want to tell us how much you love grappling and kicking opposed to lacing it up

Its entirely due to boxing being by far the most popular combat sport for most of living memory. Its simply got a long head start on MMA, thats all. You cannot put on rose tinted glasses and romanticize about UFC fights from the 1940s or the 1970s because it didnt exist.

Where are the great fights in the UFC, that people will talk about in 30 years time 'Where are the Hagler vs Hearns, Ali vs Frazier's' ? As soon as fights happen in the UFC, their legacies vanish 'Society has changed TMLT87, there is no combat sport that will duplicate what boxing achieved historically'.

In 30 years time its pretty likely people will be waxing nostalgic about UFC fights from "back in the day" more than boxing matches imho. Young people tend to sway more towards MMA over boxing nowadays. Just think how many people there are in their teens and 20s today who watched Conor/Khabib, Conor take out Aldo in 13 seconds, the Jorge/Askren flying knee, the Ronda/Holm upset, Jon Jones etc etc, those people will be middle aged and nostalgic by 2050.

Wlad was in ****ing Germany fighting guys like Samuel Peter while the UFC was in America showing Cain/JDS on Fox and having Brock break a million buys 4 times in a row, HW boxing couldnt even get on PPV. UFCs 205lb division is bigger than boxings cruiser divison most of the time too. Even going back to the Chuck/Randy/Tito days.

One fight was a retired 40 year old Floyd vs an MMA fighter, the other was marinated for over 5 years between two guys who carried boxings profile on their back for almost a decade. Since that fight (finally) happened the UFC has broken a million buys on PPV twice as many times as boxing.

"wrestled a little bit" ie was a NATIONAL CHAMPION.
I'm talking worldwide. Klitschko was and is more famous and respected than Brock fcking Lesnar

                  Cruiserweight never was popular

Oh if you want to play this game then I expect the same energy from you when GSP comes back to fight Khabib which fill be biggest MMA fight of all time (until 2 years later some 2 other 'GOATs' fight of course)

As somebody already said, Loma and Spinks were both higly decorated amateur fighters

Lesner becoming UFC champ in his 3rd fight is the same as a European amateur champ winning World title in his 3rd fight

                    Would never happen

Did I hit a nerve? Your gene pool could use some chlorine, you little milksop. There is a forum over here called "Mixed martial arts discussion" you wall-eyed buffoon. Stop trying to force your opinions on others over here.
