Some people here would still make money as an excuse as to why boxing is never near as good as UFC (or MMA in general) when it comes to match-making - not even comparable

‘But he makes more money doe’

You literally have to become fighters’ accountant just to defend boxing

Personally I can't get into it. But I can understand the appeal. The average meathead fan with shiny Tapout shirt and host of bad tattoos are a little off putting as well. Though I guess every sport has its degenerate fan base.

Then halfway into his career magically transformed into this

Guy turned from a kind of scrawny B level fighter into a ****ing supermutant who at one point was also the best HW kickboxer on the planet. He was no joke no matter how many losses he might have picked up over 20+ years.

As for Brock, he was a division 1 level state and national champion college wrestler with a 106-5 record before he went into the WWE or anything. Wrestling is the strongest overall base for MMA. Add to that that he was juiced to the ****ing gills and probably somewhere in the top 50 of most impressive freak specimens ever to compete in any sport and its not like he was just some random guy who walked into the UFC and won a belt.

Holm ws undefeated when she won the belt...plus its womens MMA so meh.

Hey can anyone recommend the best kickboxing league?
Glory, K-1, plus One FC and Rizin both have a lot of kickboxing stuff.

Kickboxing is kind of past its best imho, unfortunately. The old K-1 used to have a ridiculously stacked HW scene full of stars, and they'd even bring in some pretty big name boxers occasionally. They almost did Mike Tyson vs Bob Sapp around 2003.

I was big into the UFC in the beginning, when it was about style vs style and which would prove to be superior, etc. Once it got watered down and everyone started to look the same because people became convinced they found "the meta", I lost interest hard and stopped watching entirely when Rampage retired.

When I watch MMA these days, I can enjoy it but I really find myself critiquing the fighters the whole time and telling myself all the ways I could exploit the gaping holes in their stand up game.

Boxing otoh I can sit back and appreciate, study, score, and just get immersed on a different level.

I'm also a boxer, while I do have some ground game and MMA experience from the military, boxing is my sport not MMA. I imagine all athletes look at "their" sports through a different lens than others. I love basketball but I could probably never see the game like Kobe saw it, even if he is trying to explain what he sees to me in real time.

How is this thread still open?

If boxing is boring you weren’t a fan and stop wasting your time.

On a side note you’ll never see me in another women’s boxing thread because what’s the point of negativity and complaining.

              Boxing > your life

Although you did enlighten me in regards to the lower level fighters, You're talking about B sides, & dudes very early in their career. I was speaking moreso to notable fighters.

But don't underestimate the pay days of top fighters coming out the amateurs & them PBC checks.

There are boring parts to both MMA and boxing. Whining about one but not the other is silly. Yes, there are MMA fighters who prefer to grapple and spend all night on the mat in a boring match. Same way, majority of Klitchko's and Ward's fights were boring as hell too. Sure, some people can appreciate the 'high level technique', but same applies to MMA. Some fans will appreciate the high level jiu-jitsu.

What currently separates UFC and makes it better than boxing is the frequency of the fights and one sanctioning body. There's one champ per division, and they fight 2-3x as frequent as boxers do. I like Joshua, Golovkin, Valdez, Canelo, Loma, etc. But those guys probably have.. 8 fights total in the last 12 months? UFC now is what boxing was in the 90s.

I'm definitely not looking forward to that one. Adesanya vs Romero was far more boring than any boxing match I've seen in a couple years. Just awful.

This will be different. Costa will force Adesanya into a fight.
