Made him wait in the dressing room

Because people are more interested in the UFC than in him. Simple.
I think (as this thread proves) some boxing fans have a very outdated perception of boxings popularity vs MMA.

I was looking at a few hype vids for upcoming fights earlier today. The biggest Loma/Lopez vid on Youtube is some "ultimate preview" uploaded by Top Ranks official channel a week ago, its got 184k views. Meanwhile a head to head interview with Adesanya and Costa uploaded 2 days go has over a million. But you've still got some boxing fans with their heads in the sand making these abstract arguments about "prestige" "cultural impact" etc along with unfounded anecdotal claims of nobody remembering old UFC fights.

Side note though: Whyte/Povetkin vids are actually getting respectable views on YT right now. Which really shows much of boxings popularity is centered within the UK these days.

Spence vs Porter, Gonzalez vs Yafai, Ruiz vs Joshua 1 all recent fights then smart guy.

I mentioned universally memorable fights that to date UFC or no faction of mma has gotten close to that level.

That the best don’t fight themselves often enough I agree.

But when they do, light years ahead of your argument.

      • In the last decade of sports the #1 Highest Paid Athlete was a boxer. 2 boxers were in the top 10 Highest Paid Athletes of the last decade. This is very telling. Mayweather and Pacquiao are top of the food chain in all sports. The money in top level boxing is so much higher it is not even comparable.

I don't understand people who say mma or ufc is so big and popular yet none of mma fighters are ever on the 100 Highest Paid Athletes List. Thoughts???

It's their boy who is almost certain to be the first undisputed.

The same exact gains they were poised to make when they did the cross-over with Chuck in Pride. Only difference is Chuck Liddel never did have the dominance sport-wide that Stipe does. His venture was more risky and they paid for it and never tried that again.
I don't mean to talk **** about Iceman. I mean he did not already have wins over Pride's champions so it really was more gamble.

Vera and Bader are old UFC boys who weren't great.

Phil of KSW is a guy Stipe beat in the UFC

It's a much easier walk, same benefit as the one they tried and failed.

I think the smaller guys are the ones to be weary.

Yes, Bella, One, Rizin, especially a show like KSW, would get waaaaaay more viewership than they are used to by riding the UFC's coattails, but, their fighters are going to get buried.

Right now the UFC being on top is all promotion and theory. Stipe's ass damn sure looks like the best HW in MMA. If he proved it, then it becomes fact.

So they would get viewership but they also would be firmly placed as a sub-par to the UFC outfit. Which is exactly what the UFC was trying to prove with Chuck.

Lets put it this way, Canelo got paid $35m for his last fight, and ended up sitting backstage for an extra 45 mins so that a UFC fight between two guys being paid $500k each could end and not cut into his potential viewership...

              Basically.

Just because UFC fighters are underpaid doesn’t mean anything. They’re still much popular than boxers in the US for sure. Not many Loma casuals. I don’t know anybody who knows who Lomachenko is unless they’re an actual boxing fan.
But plenty casuals know of Masvidal, Ferguson, Holloway, etc.

Of course UFC videos may get more views at times, their fan-base are people who function through social media 'Kids who have grown up on social media 24/7' It is shallow culture, in 10 years time? They could all be nutting themselves over some other fad.

Boxing's fan-base consist of people who may not even have social media or use the internet that much 'That is why constantly ****ing on about social media views or you-tube views is not relevant'.

As soon as UFC fights happen their legacies disappear 'You know this to be the truth deep down'.

Of course its relevant, you're basically saying that old people watch boxing and young people watch the UFC. Which would indicate that boxings future isnt too bright in comparison, no?

A lot of that just comes down to the fact that the UFC didnt start breaking into the mainstream until the mid 00s though. Theres a lot of big boxing fights stretching back decades before the UFC existed whereas most of the big MMA fights happened within the last decade ie not enough time for the nostalgia to really kick in. The 2010s was the first decade where the UFC was comparable to boxing in terms of exposure and PPV numbers.

                      Right on.

Nick Diaz vs Gomi is a great fight. I watch and rewatch every few months. A good reminder in the value of mental
                      Toughness and conditioning.

Can you point me in the right direction of other fights I should see?
