You're the one who doesn't get it. Coming from the UK I have never encountered that silly leotard wearing, pin wrestling shit that yanks love so much. But I have grappled with a jiu jitsu black belt and I honestly don't think that guy could have beaten me in a street fight, let alone Mike Tyson.
Is the poster "BKM-" right about a 17yo HS wrestler being able to beat prime M Tyson?

If you'd grappled a legitimate BJJ black belt who wasnt 90 years old and/or 50+lbs lighter than you you would have been tied in knots. So I have my doubts about this claim. Its as reputable as a BJJ guy with zero striking training saying he sparred a good pro boxer and held his own.
I'm from the UK too. American folkstyle wrestling actually comes from British catch wrestling, we just forgot about it over time. The lack of wrestling skills in British MMA fighters actually used to be considered the main limiting factor in their success in the UFC. They'd have solid striking skills but then after winning a few would move up the rankings and inevitably run into a good wrestler.Comment

Absolutely. Horrible, unpredictable things can happen in street fights. Eyes get gouged out, ears and noses get chewed off, knives get pulled. Rolling around on the floor trying to use wrestling holds on some psycho is the last thing you should be trying to do in a street fight.Comment
