I started doing it the manual way myself, but then I figured I got no doubt at all you did a thorough job, but I was just wondering if you knew of a shortcut?

I gotta ask what prompted the thread though, I'm assuming the latest Brit or Eastern Euro flag wavers been trying to do some trolling or something?
    Exactly, trolling.

The real interest, what actually gets me to look at the numbers, is when US supremacy is questioned I'm curious who has taken over.

Manually counted them but honestly it takes about five minutes. Spinning bull**** out of the count took longer than the count itself

I just search the nations as I mark them. So if you start at HW, UK is the nation, search Kingdom on the page and then quickly jump to the instances to make sure it's a champ mention and not just some tidbit about the UK. It takes no time to count to 6. or 14 for that matter, that wasn't a dig.

Calling into question American dominance when the number 2 and 3 can be combined to match, not beat, America, is silly. UK + Mexico = USA

It's also silly it always comes from Europeans who have so few champions you can combine the entire EU and still come up short. Europe needs Central Asia to match America and not use a new world republic to do it. UK + France + Russia + Uzbek + Kazahk = America and that's only if you don't count Puerto Rico as American.

Asia, if you include all of Asia and do not separate central from eastern asia, is the only place on earth that can challenge America, alone, with a combined effort. From Ukraine to Japan is a big ass region to combine and that alone ought to tell you who the single most dominant nation in boxing is.

America + Mexico would be far less area covered and far less population, but still far more champions than Ukraine to Japan and everyone in between.

America > Europe , get over it

New World > Old World , get over it

Y'all mother ****er ought to be a bit closer before running yer ****suckers. Hell, number two ought to be close to number one before who dominates the sport is even questionable.

Less dominant than before doesn't mean you ***** ass ain't being dominated right ****ing now.

how convenient that you include the 'regular champs' for USA, but not for the other countries

USA has 11 champs (wba, wbo, wbc, ibf)
and that number fluctuates all the time, not that most ppl give a ****

based on the champs per population size, mexico, japan and the UK are more impressive. again, what was your point?

In your count, a unified champ is treated the same as a random belt holder, but it is more difficult to become a unified champion and that should be more valued.

The UK has two unified champs.
Joshua holds three titles and Josh Taylor two.
If nation X holds all the belts under one champion nation Y hold no belts in that division. I assume the numbers will be different but place holders would be the same.

        US- 16 belts

        Mexico- 10 belts

        UK- 9 belts

        Ukraine - 4 belts

        Russia - 3 belts

I can finish it all up if you like, but I'd have to finish later.

I'll list them by name then, later, or you can now but I'm out of time.

There are no regulars, for anyone.

The only thing I counted that probably shouldn't be is WBC-F which favors Mexico and Ukraine atm don't they? Given those are the only two who have the trophy title atm.

Yeah, figured as much. If there was somewhere obvious that actually listed titles/titlists by nation I'm expect I'd know about it already.

It is an interesting subject but it's always gonna be one that's gonna get folk prickly with nationalistic sentiment.

And as to the count, I know I could finished it off in two minutes, I'd already got down to LSC but then I figured it was a bit pointless cos I could see almost immediately your numbers were about right... Seemed a bit redundant not mention disrespectful to pipe up to say I'd checked em.

Oh, and FWIW it seems I still got the spreadsheet on my hard drive from last time this was brought up so it might be time to dust in off and bring it up to date. I'm only hesitant cos whatever stats you produce there's always someone gonna cherry pick something and run with it.

Nothing wrong with taking pride in your country's tradition of excellence in a sport.

I'm sure the Germans do it with soccer (not the English, though. )

That pride should hopefully spur people on to keep the tradition going so that it doesn't die out.

Not quite that simple I think, man, for instance they represent at the Olympics as a separate nation. Its a subject of continued debate best I can tell, with the UN in particular being deeply unhappy with the quasi colonial status of the island. As I understand it Puerto Ricans have effective dual Nationality, but most prefer to identify as citizens of the Island rather than the US. I'd be inclined to go with how each fighter chooses to self identify.... However, it does bring up the related question of whether the nationalities of the UK should all be treated separately with many of our top fighters coming from Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

In the past 10 years most of the PR champions were actually born in the USA. Danny and Cotto being the easiest ones to come to mind.

America has the most champions but so what? America is a country of immigrants. Almost everyone living here has roots from somewhere else. There ain't so such thing as special American blood running through our veins
