AJ definitely has a chance against both and I'd be supporting him in those fights, but I believe currently that this is a 1 v. 2 fight. So if Fury isn't already considered lineal then this should confirm it, whoever wins. But there is a big asterix over the lineage if the winner of the rubber match doesn't fight AJ in 2021.
if AJ continues with the A side shenanigans and one way rematch clauses where he gets a disproportionate amount of the purse even if he loses then they will be no asterisk

Adonis was still lineal in everybody's eyes despite not facing Kovalev when he had 3 of the belts.
kovalev was stevenson's mandatory and stevenson accepted the fight.

kovalev refused to fight stevenson and was stripped of his mandatory status.

        I didn't know that, thanks.

I'm sure for that fight they'll all agree a rematch as part of any deal. Too much money in it. I don't expect it until at least summer 2021 with all the mandatories (Pulev, Usyk, Whyte). And there's no guarantee AJ gets past his.

Relevance is surely based upon popularity? Maybe you need to go and have a look to see who the most popular boxers out there are?

The last time I checked, a heavyweight champion who holds four belts, is #1 on boxrec and regularly clocks over 1 million ppv buys in his home country alone is seen as relevant.

I know, kind of wish AJ didn't take that first L before they fought. Now, if he suffer a second defeat, that would likely make that fight pointless now compared to what it would have been.

Many will call the winner lineal. Many call Tyson lineal now.

I don't think it resolves it with any great clarity. There are three big names generally accepted as being the top 3 and all have question marks.

Joshua now has a loss in his record, though avenged.

Fury, taking one train of thought hasn't beaten anyone of note since he came out of retirement. It's nice to give him the Wilder win, but if you do then you have to give Wilder the loss!

And if you give Wilder the loss... is he even number 2? He lost to a guy on the comeback trail.

It's far too hard to make a clear 1 and 2. To do that you have to give no credit to Joshua's resume and revenge win, give Fury the win over Wilder and give Wilder the draw against Fury!

They'll all fight each other at some point if they want legacy. And lineal is about legacy, not the present.

Right now Joshua is #1 in Boxrec, but after February 22nd, the WBC/RING/lineal champion will finally be #1 in Boxrec, RING, TBRB, ESPN and every other reputable list.

They have to promote something. I think he won some kind of very minor belt from that first guy he fought after Wilder.

It's not really true - that's probably why they lash out of you. Miller and then Ortiz were chosen before Ruiz...

And glassjaw AJ seems to have more balls than any other current HW. Imagine AJ at the same stage in his career as Wilder or Fury - having fought the same quality opponents they fought. We would rightly be mocking him. Guy has only had just over 20 fights and he is already showing their cherry-picking up...
