Any fight is singular, a boxer does not get paid for a season. This fight with AJ, given the hoophula, etc is such that if we apply ockham's Razor we see that

    1) As Red said: You get paid by the job. Replacing Miller means at the very least Ortiz should not get less than Miller... Its also a last minute deal lets not forget...

    2) And WBC guy discussing WHY perhaps Ortiz was so called lo balled also makes sense: "it is the start of a negotiation" its kind of common sense.

Again it is funny how these promoter threads get so acrimonious lol. Let me ask this question: with the drawing power of AJ, and with the date set for this big fight....what is it worth to have a decent opponent who has made things happen? Because it seems to me the payday for Ortiz is peanuts and simply a way to start a negotiation in earnest.

Why do people get so worked up over purses? In many endevours one is paid per the job. AJ has tremendous drawing power right? So If I am the promoter I want to get him in with someone who is at least a credible threat... though not someone who he did not train for and could derail him. Under those conditions what would it matter if they offered Ortiz 12 Million? lol.
    1. It is not common place for a late replacement to be guaranteed the exact same purse as the fighter he is replacing. It hardly ever happens.

    2. It wasnt the start of negotiations they flat out refused and called it a NO GO. This was not the start of negotiations it was the end. Eddie still went back with a higher offer so im told but that was instantly refused.

There is just no excusing calling 10x your highest payday a lowball. Call it less than you want, call it not enough, but its far from a lowball. And from what im hearing from Eddie Hearn it was more than 5 million anyway. We will know for sure soon enough. Either way it is a duck though.

OP is a real expert on the boxing business.
He’s almost 40, spends his days and nights posting on a boxing message board, and women his own age can’t stand him so he brags about getting with 20 year olds.
Oh and he’s been to a Super Bowl everyone! What a cool guy!

        1. It would depend.

        2. I am sure that is a possibility.

        3. It just does not work that way. I wouldn't call it a lowball offer, that was not my take.

surefire way to kill fight he didn't want

remember....Ortiz is not only not the first HW to accuse hearn of lowballing...hearn has been accused by several guys of it in the past

its sad...but I get it...Ortiz too dangerous of a replacement plus lefthanded

for the record Ortiz asking for 10 mil is ridiculous...but I bet if eddie said 6.5 it would be done

never underestimate that extra 1.5...it pays trainers and managers and camp expenses.....but somehow hearn felt the less ballyhooed miller deserved more!!!! LOL
Curt, they don't think that it's a lowball offer because it's Joshua. Theyndont understand the dynamics of boxing. They just **** ride this stiff ass coward. I bet he fights a ****en bum watch. I'm sick of this mofo and his sleazy promoter. But he's irrelevant now and has been since the 41 year old Wlad fight. His stock has dropped ever since that fight. Watch how this plays out.

            Offer was 7.5m lol

            It’s all over the sites

Ortiz never wanted it and his team lied to make an excuse

Next week Hearn will release the emails proving team Ortiz ducked

But you have proven here that you are anti Hearn because you know they got offered 7m plus but ain’t made a thread to correct yourself as it doesn’t suit the agenda

You can disagree but it's just the way it is here in the states.
What is being lost here is that Ortiz offers nothing over Miller, other than the fact that us hardcores know he is probably a better opponent than Miller. Ortiz will not generate an additional .50 cents worth of revenue over what Miller would have. Anyone who knows who Ortiz is, or knows who Miller is, is already going to watch the fight anyways. So any extra appeal (revenue) has to come from the casuals, who dont know either Miller or Ortiz. And in that department, Miller rates higher because he is a NYer with a big mouth who would have been able to talk alot of smack for the next month. Ortiz cant even say hello.
