Big punches were landed by both fighters.... GGG was hospitalized though so he took a bigger battering

If only GGG had lost 6 times and been knocked out twice then maybe his resume could be almost as good as Cotto's resume. Or Cotto could have defended his WBC title against the number 1 challenger GGG and GGG could have slaughtered him.

cong**** to ggg on another hypothetical slaughtering! this time though its another WW in cotto! wow what a legend! he slaughters a prime 140-147 fighter in a hypothetical scenario! well at least thats better than leaving nothing to the imagination and actually fighting a 147 guy and beating him by stoppage! a stoppage that the actual 147 guy seemed suprised and upset about when his corner stopped it...lol.......was that brook win before or after he made fun of canelo for fighting a WW if you could please help me out?

lol...cotto is twice the man golovkin will ever be

golovkin ran from featherfists ward to fight a WW!!...at least cotto moved through classes and fought some bigger guys

When I woke up this New Year's morning, the first thing I thought of was GGG and his resume.

GGG's middleweight era really had no great names period so no matter who he beat it would not have been any hall of fame names...He fought who he could at 160

He was the boogeyman. No one wanted him.

Nelo battered him in the rematch though

Canelo is just a special fighter and far more skilled then GGG, He fought him 2 different ways and showed he could beat him either way..GGG is very limited and a straight up and down boxer

Thing is whether they wanted him or not there still wasn't anyone who could have made his resume look stellar -Martinez would have helped of course, but Sergio would have had to have been a fool to fight Golovkin when the Cotto fight was being actively pushed by the WBC (from 2013 onwards) and Cotto would have been a fool to take that fight when the Canelo fight was on the cards. 'Sides Cotto was too small and Maravilla too old anyway in the relatively brief window those fights were possibilities.

In the best of worlds he could maybe have got some more guys of the Macklin / Murray sort of level like Lee or Barker... maybe Saunders too. He should probably have fought Derevyanchenko last year, but that wouldn't have done much either when Sergiys best win was Tureano Johnson...

Only way he could have got a better looking resume was by going up, but even at 168 outside of Froch and Ward who was there? Anyways, Froch retired and Ward would most likely have beaten him...

In the main Golovkin fought who he could - there's probably a coupla things he could have done to improve his chances of getting fights, and a coupla times they really should have found someone better, but no more so than you could say about many other fighters.
