You're wrong. Showtime's subscriber base has remained stagnant since 2015.

Obviously no way to know the number of downloads, but since the app launched, Showtime has started closing the gap on HBO in a major way.

Dude, seriously, use your brain a little bit before declaring that I'm wrong. It's very insulting. You just posted THE NIELSEN NUMBERS, i.e., homes getting Showtime from cable/satellite. That doesn't count the app subscribers. So to prove that the app hasn't been a success, you posted the numbers that don't count the app. Brilliant on your part.

Fair enough. Please provide evidence of subscribers for Showtime's app to support your claim of rising subscribers.

CBS All Access and Showtime OTT, the over-the-top video platforms owned by CBS Corp., are approaching 5.3 million combined subscribers, CEO Less Moonves said on the May 3 fiscal call. CBS All Access, which launched in 2014 for $5.99 featuring on-demand access to CBS primetime shows and catalog, and Showtime OTT ($10.99), which bowed in … Continue reading "CBS All Access, Showtime OTT Nearing 5.3M Combined Subs"

Showtime's app has been a smash success, even if it's created the illusion that viewership is down. HBO focused on optics and ended up failing spectacularly, while SHO put their focus on the fan, and won the war in the process.
Yeah it reminds me of what Colin Cowherd said a couple weeks ago. 10 years ago, he'd get his ratings every morning to see how he did. Now they have a long sheet of different statistics to measure their success from streaming, ratings, social media, etc. Showtime expanded their budget because they saw that boxing was making them money and driving their subscribers.
