What PBC, DAZN & ESPN need to do....

Market leader doesn’t have to be determined on viewers although clearly hey have a big impact. Different market strategy’s at play here. DAZN are primarily purely boxing at the moment while showtime etc are much wider. It should be expected due to higher subscription for other sports (at this time) that therefore DAZN would have lower viewers - however that doesn’t necessarily mean DAZN incoming directly related to boxing would be lower, or that boxing content is lower. It's not a question of who is #1 in your heart. It's not a question of which platform has the fights you or I enjoy the most.
It's a question of who the market leader is. PBC will be the market leader because so many more people will be watching their fights. HBO had the most boxing viewers for decades. Now that has switched to PBC. That's not a knock on DAZN. I hope everyone subscribes to DAZN and for $9.99 it's an amazing value for boxing nerds.
But PBC is going to have casual sports viewers on FOX that would never watch DAZN in a million years.
DAZN is also working a loss making strategy short term (as a result of being new)- so indeed you would naturally expect them to be behind.Comment

Eff Pandas thread, which I couldn't reply to due to being blocked, asked who the #1 boxing source will be now that HBO is gone. The answer is clearly Fox. They will have millions watching. Nobody else will have millions watching.Market leader doesn’t have to be determined on viewers although clearly hey have a big impact. Different market strategy’s at play here. 8 FOX cards what? No, there are more than 8 FOX cards plus PPV.it won’t affect them at all. There are only 8 fox cards a year. Plus a lot of those fox cards start at 5pm pacific so some Saturdays they could cards on both networks like they’ve done in the past.
Plus espinoza has already stated he doesn’t like to do cards in October and November
Thurman vs Lopez, LSC card, Porter/Ugas and Garcia/Granados in the first four months. Then you have Spence/Garcia in March.
Aside from that, this is the future FOX schedule:
Fights to be announced for these, but here are the remaining 2019 dates for #PBConFox and #PBConFS1
— Jake Donován (@JakeNDaBox) November 13, 2018
Sat 5/11, FOX
Sat, 5/25, FS1
Sat, 6/1, FS1
Sun, 6/23, FOX
Sat, 7/13 FS1
Sat, 7/20 FOX
Sat, 8/3 FOX
Sat, 8/24 FS1
Sun 9/1 FOX
Sat 9/21 FS1
Sat 11/9 FS1
Sat 12/14 FOX
Sat 12/21 FS1
So four regular FOX dates already plus a PPV. Then six other dates to come. Espinoza definitely isn't going on the same day as the FOX PPVs, and won't go on some other dates either.
I mean they can put on cards on the same day, but will be pretty rare.Comment

Plus another 12 on Fox Sports and another 12 on Showtime. That's 34 shows for PBC, plus PPVs. Is there really any doubt PBC is the boxing that will have the most eyeballs watching in the US? Are you guys that biased against PBC that you can't admit simple facts?
For decades, HBO was the leader. Now PBC is the leader. Doesn't mean DAZN can't offer boxing fans tremendous value. For many years HBO had the biggest audience, but SHO was still giving boxing fans tremendous **** for their buck.Comment
