Haymon killing another unification fight?

When boxers get drunk or high they usually start talking shit calling their rivals out and wanting to fight them, not the kind of negative shit Spence was coming out with there.Comment

Arum only works with other promoters that provide lower tier fighters that will agree to his the terms Arum dictates and fight on a his platform. None of those guys are big names, Arum would have never allowed Crawford to fight those guys if their promoter was running the show.We know for a fact only 3 of Crawford's last 12 opponents were in house and the rest he worked with other promoters. Why you make stories up bro? Burns, Gamboa, Dulorme, John Molina, Felix Diaz, Hank Lundy, etc were all with other promoters. Only Ray Beltran was a true Top Rank opponent and Postol and Horn they just had a couple options on but look at everyone else he fought. All from other promotersComment

This sounds about right to me. And this fight isn't really at that level yet.
And Bob putting Bud on some $5/mo app vs on ESPN isn't gonna help build that fight up as a PPV. Hopefully he doesn't keep that up like he did with Bud's first 147lb fight. Spence fighting on Fox (assuming he does fight on Fox vs Showtime) should help the fight with Bud become bigger.
But the reality is Bud isn't gonna fight Spence necessarily. Bud will fight whoever comes out on top with these PBC guys most likely. Cuz Spence vs Thurman vs Porter is going to get figured out before Bud is getting in the mix. Or at least unless Bob signs Porter which seems like something that may or may not be a thing that could happen since Porter is saying he's a free agent (although afaik he's been a free agent cuz DiBella doesn't have a contract with him & never has).
So this Bud vs Spence/Thurman/Porter PPV isn't happening til 2020, at the earliest, I'd say if I was betting on it.Comment

Hearn sent a contract for a fight in 2018. All Wilder had to do was sign it.Comment

Both Rigo and Linares aren't big draws. Rigo barely fights on TV and Linares mostly fights in UK cards promoted by other promoters or in front of 2.5k fans at the Forum. Both are top fighters but they are lower tier fighters when it comes to commanding money. Arum's way of getting you to fight his guy is by agreeing to the terms he dictates. He's gonna offer you less money and more than likely ask for future options on fights. When it comes to the stars of their stables I think Haymon and Arum are pretty bad at letting their stars fight on other cards. Arum let Lomachenko fight on Showtime vs. Russell and he's letting Gvozdyk fight Stevenson on Showtime whereas Haymon has let the likes of Molina fight a top Top Rank guy. There's a difference there. Now, I know Loma and Gvozdyk were purse bids, but he could have just maneuvered other title fights, surely?
Arum worked with other promoters in making two recent fights most of this board said he'd never dare make in Lomachenko-Rigondeaux and Lomachenko-Linares. Both fights were easily signed once it was clear the other promoter was game.
Haymon is the most in-house for sure and I'm not sure why people have a hard time seeing that or just run with the 'Bob will never make it" narrative and completely ignore the fact Haymon is just as bad (if not worse) than you perceive Top Rank.
Spence comes across as very glad there's a political divide preventing him from fighting his most talented potential rival with the hardest style to dissect. From bragging about his "side of the street" and putting up all these roadblocks. Hey, you say you are a "free agent", well Crawford is getting $3m a fight to fight whoever he chooses, surely if you ask Bob he'll pay you to fight his guy and pay you well. If Porter/Thurman/Garcia want to fight each other again and you're stuck with Ocampo, Collazo etc; may be time to try and fight Crawford.Comment

Sh^t talking is negative sh^t.
And like I said we all know the game & the play promoters do with this sh^t. If you legit think Bud (maybe the best guy with TR/ESPN) vs Spence (maybe the best guy with PBC/Showtime/Fox) was gonna happen next you are living in some fantasy land that isn't how the boxing landscape operates.
Should they make that fight now? Sure as a fan yea sign me up for that. But the business of boxing & those who have skin in the game insure this isn't how things shake out til its at the point of max upside for making that fight happen. Same deal with Joshua vs Wilder. These mfers are playing the same games to build that fight up.
And randomly I guarantee you we see Joshua vs Wilder before Bud vs Spence (or Thurman) cuz that fight is hotter & there is more money by 100 miles. Bud still needs to increase his profile on ESPN. Spence still needs to increase his profile on Fox. This ain't a PPV til casual mfers are talking about Bud & Spence more.Comment

Arum isn't gonna make no Bud/Ramirez. He's gonna milk Ramirez title reign as long as he can just like he's doing with Zurdo. There's a reason why those 2 didn't enter the tournaments. Prograis isn't signed to Arum, he's with DiBella. Arum couldn't even make Pac/Crawford.Are Berto and Alexander really more interesting than Ramirez, Prograis or the winner of the 140 WBSS? I think Top Rank would have an easy time making Crawford-Ramirez, Crawford-Prograis, Crawford-Taylor (if he can win the WBSS). Sure, they are at 140 but they will be at 147 soon enough.
Are Ugas and Broner more interesting? Ugas has less of a name then those guys and Broner wouldn't be an interesting match really. He gets dominated by anyone elite.Comment

If that was the case, Crawford should have stayed at 140 to fight those guys instead of the cream puffs he fought to unify 140. Postol is a good win but that wasn't a good performance from him. Crawford has always been fighting smaller fighters. Has always re hydrated to around 15 lbs for fight nights.Ramirez is huge at JWW, Taylor is very big for the weight too and I don't think Prograis can make it for that much longer either.
I'm not saying he should sit back and fight them all but a natural order would be Ramirez and then the winner of the WBSS. I think that's a good 2019 and though some fans will look at it as "beating smaller men coming up" others will rightly view it as beating accomplished guys of the same size. I think all three of those guys can and will be in the Welterweight mix the next few years.Comment
