honest question for AJ fans

All great points. Hearn played this perfectly. It's not that he was absolutely unwilling to fight Wilder next, it's just that Povetkin was his preference and he played the two sides against each other to get the absolute best deal possible from both of them, and then chose the fight he preferred. If Povetkin's team hadn't of played ball, then maybe the Wilder fight would have happened next.Sounds very plausible. World of boxing may have expanded more energy in pushing WBA and have conceded more to Hearn on any deal / rematch clause that would otherwise have been the case given their mandatory status. If Wilder's peak time is a limited resource the same goes double for Povetkin.Comment

Because the WBA needs AJ a lot more than AJ needs the WBA. There's very little difference between being a three belt unified champion and a two belt unified champion. You're still unified champion and not undisputed champion. There is nobody in the heavyweight division that comes close to the sanctioning fees AJ pays. The WBA is always going to bend over backwards for AJ.Comment

He already told Hearn the rematch wasn't a deal breaker. He just needed a date sent that week and they'd sign at the end of the week.
When Hearn finally sent the date during the week, it was April. So they didn't sign. Had the date been 2018, they would have signed.Comment

pls tell me. What was the deal breaker for wilder?Rematch clause wasn't a deal breaker for Wilder. He was willing to sign without a rematch clause.
Rematch clause was a deal breaker for AJ, it's one of the reasons he wasn't willing to sign for the 50 million he asked for.
Wouldn't that mean that it's actually AJ that has doubts since a rematch clause was a requirement for him, but Wilder was willing to fight without one?Comment

you are coming back to my point. The fighter that holds the belt and the quality of opponents it defends the belt against determines the prestige of the belt."Champ makes the belt" is actually the myth. The truth is that the champs make the belt. As in, over time, the quality of the champions end up determining the prestige or lack thereof for a championship.
Anybody can look at the list of the WBC heavyweight champions and look at the list of the WBO champions and see a clear distinction of which title is more important.
Not some group of people in the name of organization or one history many years ago.Comment

in a couple of weeks, we will hear the next move from wilder camp. They haven't agreed to fight in principle. That is a lie Hearn made up months ago to trick AJ fans into believing Wilder didn't want to fight AJ next.
There is a tentative date for Wilder's next fight, but Breazeale isn't the preferred opponent. The longer they delay the in house mandatory, the longer they delay there being a non-in house mandatory later on.
HW division waits for no body, there are mouth watering fights already in the box.
AJ/potvedkin
Whyte/parker
Chisora/takam
Pulev/miller/hughies fury
There is also a rumour Ortiz will fight one journey man as well.
So there is much to be looking up. Wilder can't afford to be behind.Comment

a contract with DANZ only, and even is he wins hes the B side in an automatic rematch, we all have our biases and i understand but even you wouldnt sign that trash, and you would much rather watch that fight on tv than a damn app nobody knows about.Comment

I tot wilder will just go to the UK, KO AJ, gather the belts and return to the US.
