    Here is the case...

"Derevyanchenko became the mandatory contender in August 2017 -- almost 8 months ago," Dombroff wrote. "Therefore, considering the IBF rules that a reigning champion must make a mandatory defense every nine months, it makes good sense to order that Golovkin's next defense be vs. Derevyanchenko.

So are you saying GGG is fighting a bum on May 5th and his mandatory in mid June? Because if that’s the case we are all good.

However the extreme business circumstances that allowed him to sidestep his Mandos left with Canelo. GGG should have to meet the 9 months requirement or simply drop the strap.
Right, so he hasn't been ordered to fight any mandos yet.

As stated, doesn’t matter smart guy. Based on having to defend the belt every 9 months against his “mandatory,” he shouldn’t need an order. If he chooses to fight any body else befor June 17th the rules that apply to everyone else say he gives up the strap. You follow?

GGG and Ward were also 3 divisions apart when Ward sent his infamous bogus "offer" to Golovkin, you muppet!

You didn't really take it seriously, did you?

          GGG said "154-168 EZFOMI"

Yet ran scared from andre ward

didn't want to fight canelo at 155

          hasn't fought anyone at 154 or 168

          You literally can't defend that

Now he's ducking andrade and derevyanchenko

He's had since march to look at canelo replacements, spike or that 21 year old mexican is who they decided to fight? Really?
Unification trumps mandatory. Makes no sense to fight sergey then one month later to fight bjs. At the age of 36, no fighter in the history of boxing has fought two top 5 mw's within a month of each other.

I didn't say he should do that. I said he has the option to either fight andrade/derevyanchenko on may 5th or fight BJS in june

                "he shouldn't need an order"

What .. so you reckon the IBF will just wait to see if he fights Derevyanchenko without being ordered to ... and strip him of their belt if he doesn't?

Yeah that’s what Derevyanchenko’s team is saying should happen, that is the point of the article. The order is if he chooses a fighter other than Derevyanchenko. Then it’s clear he needs to drop the strap. The WBC is changing the rules for GGG. What am I reading for you now?

Ok, so he sucks but I really like the Eastern block names with all the contestants better than Spike. Spike is the name of my neighbors beagle.

Yes, I am getting tired of the soap opera.

But I sometimes think we on comment boards are like 24-hour news stations. We need SOMETHING to rail against, even if it is speculation. It has barely been a week since the biggest possible fight Golovkin could hope for fell to pieces. His team is trying to save a fight date. They are also not wanting to put the huge rematch totally out of their minds. Meanwhile, Golovkin- not getting any younger- wants to fight. Other fighters want this chance. Is it still a PPV? If not, does HBO have a budget to move it to a regular telecast and do they have a slot for it? How does this effect HBO's replay/new fight schedule the next week? Who wants the undercard? It is a ton of moving parts here.

Regardless of those who cheer for Trip G or the ones on this site who seem to make a sole purpose out of trolling him, we are arguing gossip at this point. Let's see what happens. There has to be a decision soon. Then we can all chose sides and slam it or cheer it.
