Because he has fans which is more than I can say for Derevyanchenko, he brings nothing to the table.

      Per Dan Rafael:

"Derevyanchenko's team is pressing for the fight since it is next up in the sanctioning body rotation system for mandatory challengers for unified titleholders. I have seen the Derevyanchenko team's letters to the IBF, and they make a great case that if GGG doesn't face him next he should be stripped of that belt. Belts are supremely important to Golovkin. He has said for years he wants to claim all four of them; he has three.

He probably could avoid being forced to give up the IBF belt if he could unify in his next fight (IBF rules allow unifications to trump mandatories) and that means facing Billy Joe Saunders, who has the fourth belt
      .
With no magic to May 5 (Cinco de Mayo) for a non-Mexican fighter such as Golovkin, it seems to me the best course of action for Golovkin is to forget the HBO PPV disaster waiting to happen and move on to making a deal for late June, when Saunders is supposed to be ready to return from a hand injury.

However, late last week, Top Rank reached out to Loeffler to see if he was interested (or if it was contractually doable, given GGG's ties to HBO) in the possibility of making a deal with Top Rank to distribute Golovkin's May 5 fight on an ESPN platform. Once that happened, I'm told, HBO came to the table and is looking for the money to place GGG's fight on regular HBO."

let's wait and see who gets the nod
He will fight the guy that pays the most and will at the same time give him the best shot at a 4 million dollar rematch.

Every fighter in the business understands exactly what GGG is doing and why, and every fighter in the business would do the same.

GGG has fought two tough fights in a row (Jacobs, Canelo). However, being a unified Champion requires a special effort. He shouldn't get any "soft touches" if he wants to continue being recognized a unified champion. He HAS to satisfy his mandatories in between big fights.

But i thought GGG is the best in the division and wants to fight the best? Now that the division has better competition he wants to avoid certain fighters.

He's had since march to look at canelo replacements, spike or that 21 year old mexican is who they decided to fight? Really?

Factsarenice - what are you talking about? We know you don’t have 4 million dollars. Besides that who disagrees that GGG will do what he always has done and take the path of least resistance. The best predictor of future behavior is recent behavior in a similar setting.

I am saying when a fighter gets so desperate that you are avoiding Mandatories then he is washed up.

When did GGG get to a point where a 154 lb fighter with one fight at 160 and a fighter who has 11 fights in the pros are too risky mandos?

If any other fighter did this BS you guys would be at his door with tiki torches and pink bandanas.

What’s even worst is he may fight a bum and not be able to get the dude out of there. What will that due to Canelo vs Golovkin part 2? Maybe he should protect that money. Unless he just can’t win the fight?

What is important to focus on is the other Johnson. He KO’d Tureano Johnson (who was 20 and 1) to become mandatory in the IBF eliminator. Did I mention it was his 10th fight? He has only fought 11 times and is already beating guys that O’Sullivan and Jaimi would never have fought. Besides that what’s to argue they aren’t mandatories because they haven’t qualified themselves. He won the eliminator.

😂😂😂😂You guys are funny let Devevtanchenko beat GGG and you will be up on here trying to keep him out of real fights too. Must be your man crush Monday.
bruh these gggroupies are already making excuses
