Lou makes a lot of great points. I don't know who Derevyanchenko is but if he is the mandatory and the IBF rules state that GGG needs to fight his mandatory then that's who he should be fighting. Lou has changed my mind, I want GGG to fight Derevyanchenko now.

But because they don’t make the order for GGG everyone should be cool with it? This is clearly some fan boy BS bro. Boxing is a sport.
The WBC, IBF and WBA are going to be having a conference call to discuss Golovkin's mandatory obligations. That's what always happens when unified champs have multiple mandos waiting for their shot. GGG also has a possible unification with BJS to be considered too.
The sanctioning organizations will make their decision and Golovkin will have to do whatever they order him to do, if he wants to keep all his belts. He is being treated no differently than any other unified champion.

I always stayed out of the GGG controversies (I read Boxing Scene for years (since 2006 or so) but didn't register or comment until recently). I've liked GGG's career (he beat who was in front of him) for the most part.
However, with the current mess (not GGG's fault), he really should fight his mandatory. All the BS to the contrary from boxing insiders and players is all about trying to save GGG-Canelo II down the road (and their own pieces of the big pie) ... which is complete BS. They need to force the mandatory with the IBF (Derevyanchenko), and proceed. That will keep a big fight happening on this date, and it's the right thing to do for boxing. Canelo or GGG could die in a car accident, or have a stroke , or a thousand other things could happen down the road. (And yes I know Canelo was stripped of the WBC belt)
What's done is done ... back to defending the belts! Or GGG should man up (like Canelo did when they were forcing him to fight GGG before he wanted aka "Clenned Up") and walk away from the IBF belt via being stripped.
I would advise him to fight his mandatory ... just like Canelo should have fought him, and not gotten stripped. Canelo has been under a cloud ever since really ... and if GGG allows himself to be stripped, he will be too.
But we all do understand chasing the money, so .... if that's what's most important .... go for it.
C,mon IBF, do the right thing. WBC needs to stand down also,

PS - I've read Boxing Scene since around 2011. Prior to that I subscribed to CBSSPorts (for Boxing) and for a while on BleacherReport when CBS changed their sports site on the web ... all going back to about 2006.

GGG should've hired someone like him instead of this Loeffler guy. If GGG was promoted right and matched tough, his profile would've been something amazing. Sadly, it's too late.

He was kind of hobbled from the start, although the case could be made that he could always have switched promoter again... I can imagine the problems he had leaving his first promoter would have proved a powerful disincentive to that though.
In this case though, while I think it would be slightly unfair for the IBF to order GGG to fight Derevyanchenko immediately at such short notice, I do think that is the fight they should have made if it were at all possible. And honestly they should have just scrapped the May 5th date and either gone for Derevyanchenko or Saunders soon, or Charlo a bit further down the line. Best policy vis-a-vis Canelo is just to say fuck it, if it happens it happens. Far as I'm concerned GGG has wasted too much time and far too many good opportunities waiting on Canelo, and it's way past time to just move on.

Only way he'd get stripped I think is if the IBF pushed through a mandatory order before Golovkin has found an opponent for Cinco, which I'm guessing is unlikely.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 04-10-2018, 02:33 AM.
