Wtf are you on about? Toney did fight at the elite level and won often in the early to mid 90s before finally facing Jones and having all his issues.

Broner does not have a single elite level win, heck he couldnt even beat a b level slugger.

This must be the final nail in your "boxing knowledge" coffin.

    What a clown.

No, Jirov is not Jeff Lacy before Jeff Lacy. Come on, dude. I don't know if you hate Toney at all, but Jirov was world's better than Lacy, who I picked Calzaghe to beat simply because I couldn't get over how ****ty he was watching him fight.
Don't argue with Rustydan, the guy acts like he knows about the sport but I famously educated him on a number of boxing history point and he avoids me ever since.

His MO is to quote boxers from 50 years ago in the hopes that makes him sound knowledgeable. I guarantee he will do that to you too.

I feel as if Broner also benefited a ton more from matchmaking and a lot of his 'holes' were exposed when he fought better opposition.

Actually, Dan is one of the few posters I truly respect on here. I do know he has a hard-on for Toney like I do for Zab Judah. IDK but hey, we're all human

never made it to the elite?

dog, he foughta t the championship level all the way to HW. beat michael nunn in f#cking '91 when he was one of the better fighters in teh world. and was a middleweight! stayed at the top of the sport for well over a decade. spent years on the pound for pound list,a nd made it back to p4p again a decade later when he beat jirov!

only thing you can say they both shared is a lack of discipline and that both were bat**** crazy

larry, do you even watch boxing? i mena really, do you watch it? did you watch it then?

Well it's easy to look fantastic against bums. I'd combat that and just ask said person to tell me Jirov's best win.
It is easy to look fantastic against bums but even in the loss to Toney, that was one hell of a performance by Jirov. Incredible performance by both, really.

Jirov was world's better than Lacy, who was a one-dimensional slugger. Jirov could get on his toes and box, threw a solid jab, great combinations and wicked to the body. Took a good shot too although that Toney fight ruined him.

As for Toney's run at HW, anybody who wins a world title at MW and goes on to beat top 5-10 contenders at HW...I'd consider the latter pretty impressive. Which is why only primarily HOF'ers have been able to do it. But we agree Toney is a HOF'er and nowhere near Broner so I think we generally agree.

Both have talent but big holes in their game.

                  Both have poor feet.

And they have a similar style aswell.

Toney is obviously better than Broner but yes the similarities are there.

it's impossible to take the guy seriosuly when james toney is mentioned. have no idea where there hate came from, but getting in all of th wars, and getting his butt kicked in histor on the topic has made him pretty damn ridiculous.

usually a good poster, definitely a floyd lover to the point of his judgement being swayed,, but a good poster. but when james toney is mentioned you just can't take him seriously any longer.
