I hold Toney at much higher regards than Broner, Toney beat good fighters in his time and had alot more skills and tricks than Broner, who might have had more physical ability.

People forget that Toney KOed Michael Nunn, who was an undefeated P4P ranked champion at the time, James Toney was a huge underdog entering that fight, he also fought a ring master veteran in Mike McCallum and both gave us 2 of the most technically sound fights of all time. He also beat guys like Reggie Johnson, Iran Barkley, Jirov and a tainted win over Holyfield. I don't know if Broner's resume can be compared to this. I think Broner is more comparable to Judah maybe, but James Toney is just a level above when it comes to skills and accomplishments.

A fat old Broner would never be able to hang with middleweights and super middleweights like Toney was hanging with heavyweights late in his career. Toney's ability to roll with punches and his defense that only relied on experience and subtle little moves is something unique to him and it puts him at a pedestal that's higher than Broner. My opinion though!

Toney was elite...wtf comparing Broner to JT is absurd, RJJ would have KO Broner within 3 rounds

Loads of former MW's have gone up to HW and done way better than Toney. Toney's resume at HW is garbage. He has one half decent win there and it's a shot to **** Holyfield. You find that impressive? I don't.

List goes on how? How long does it go on?

He has one win over McCallum (that matters) very arguably lost both.

Yeah I agree Jirov is probably his best win but Jirov is Jeff Lacy before Jeff Lacy so there's that.

        Not a great resume.

            Loads? Who are these middleweights?

No, Jirov is not Jeff Lacy before Jeff Lacy. Come on, dude. I don't know if you hate Toney at all, but Jirov was world's better than Lacy, who I picked Calzaghe to beat simply because I couldn't get over how ****ty he was watching him fight.

World's better than Lacy how? What's Jirov's best win? Jirov much like Lacy was just another overhyped champion knocking out bums.

Off the top of your head you named a pretty nice list of almost all HOF'ers. Go figure.

I'm really not going to bother with the Jirov/Lacy comparison. I'd tell any poster just to pop in a few of each of their fights and make their own conclusion.

                    Ok well I never said Toney isn't a HOFer he's a first ballot HOF'er.

Simply pointing out that there are plenty of fighters who went from MW to compete at HW. Toney's HW "run" is garbage. He almost beat Sam Peter and Hasim Rahman? Ok great. Should I be impressed?

Well it's easy to look fantastic against bums. I'd combat that and just ask said person to tell me Jirov's best win.
