Broner and Toney aren't comparable achievement wise no. Toney is a lot better than Broner and that's a fact. But there are clearly comparisons and parallels between the two.

To respond to your point about his wins, I didn't have Toney winning either of the first two McCallum fights, Charles and Jirov were decent wins agreed and Nunn was a good come from behind win he was getting schooled in but still a good win obviously but that to me is not a strong resume.

A damn sight better than Broner's of course but again Larry has a point in regards to the similarities between the two. They are there.

And his HW "run" was garbage. More like a brisk walk as opposed to a run.

Even the fattest version of James Toney is very hard to beat. The guy has very good boxing IQ.

Bro do u even know what boxing is? In terms of skill James Toney is one of the greatest middleweights and boxers of all time.

Freddie Roach said he’s the most skillful fighter he ever trained.

He could box, he could brawl, he could fight on the inside or the outside... he had speed, power, tremendous heart, an iron chin...

Calling Toney 1 dimensional is like calling Lomachenko 1 dimensional... doesn’t make sense.
Toney is a one dimensional fighter. He fights effectively one way, in the pocket. If you gave him movement he struggled, if you put the pace on him he struggled. If you lay on the inside with him and don't put a pace on him he did well, that's it. That's a one dimensional fighter.

He lacked ring IQ because he had no ability to make adjustments, if a fighter could box well off the back foot he was totally lost an resorted to moving forward and throwing one big punch. Often crossing his feet over in a wild attempt to land a big punch. The evidence is clearly there to see.

Could not avoid a jab or a right hook to the body. Never have I seen him adjust to that punch. Griffin has two wins over him solely on a jab. He could not avoid it.

One of the most skilled middleweights ever? Good joke. Do you know how many rounds he lost at middleweight? A **** load. For lack of a better termonology.

            These are much worse.
Toney was an inconsistent fighter he struggled with fighters he should have dominated.

He busted his ass in camp for the mikey fight and still lost probably every round.

You had Toney losing both McCallum fights but those were tight fights and people have varying opinions. Either way, he has wins over McCallum on his resume. His Jirov win was fantastic. The list goes on. And I can’t think of too many former middleweight champs who can compete at HW so no, I wouldn’t call it garbage at all.
