    What's the difference?

Other than Ponce De Leon being better than Tiberi.

He also accomplished a lot more than Broner.

The difference to me is that Toney was inconsistent and often underachieved. He was A level talent who under performed, but also did some impressive stuff.

Broner just is not any better than what we have seen in his losses. He is simply B level. About B level.

It is sad really because he has tools and toughness. If he had more inner drive and killer instinct he could give a great fight to anyone at 140-47.
this! he's been treading water since moving up to 140-147

James Toney was far ahead in his boxing skill compared to Broner, who doesn't even have a win comparable to Toney's win vs Jirov

Agreed but the logic you used for Broner can be easily applied to Toney.

Broner got a gift against Ponce, Toney got a super gift against Dave Tiberi who is not as good as Ponce.

So the critique applies to both there.

Toney struggled badly on multiple occasions with guys who weren't even ranked.

I see how they fight similarly and understand what you're going for with the comparison.

Main difference is Toney actually had defense out of the shoulder roll posture.

The only thing that the 2 really have in common is skin color. Broner is nowhere near as skilled as toney.

Stating that he is one dimensional, lacks ring IQ and has poor feet is "hate"? Why is it "hate"? It is an observation, man. This is a boxing discussion board where we share our opinions and discuss them.

All this "hate" nonsense is truley pathetic and feminine as ****.

Why not just combat my opinions and tell me why I'm wrong?

Did James Toney not look one dimensional when he was got totally outboxed by Jones for 12 rounds, Nunn for 10 rounds and Reggie Johnson for large portions of their 12 rounds? Coincidentally the 3 slick movers he fought?

Did he not show a lack of ring IQ when he struggled to make adjustments in these fights and looked to just land one big punch over and over again?

Did he not show a lack of ring IQ when Montel Griffin could not miss a jab or right hook to the body in the 24 rounds they fought?

Did he not show poor feet when he Roy, Nunn, and Johnson outboxed him and he kept loading up and crossing his feet over leaving himself way out of position? Or when he tried to box off the back foot against Merqui Sosa but kept getting the distance closed on him and outworked down the stretch with Sosa's awkward style?

Toney had one dimension and that was in the pocket slipping and sliding with counters when the fight was at his ideal pace, that is where he excelled and it was one hell of a dimension such as when Iran Barkley sat in the pocket with you fighting at a methodical pace throwing single shots and 1-2's and he got picked off. But when you didn't play Toney's game, boxed him, gave him angles, made him have to close the distance he struggled badly because his feet are not good or quick, he excelled when his feet were totally planted. Hence him being one dimensional and not having the ring IQ to adjust to that. His answer was to look for one shot, and it worked sometimes but that will never work regularly at the top level.

Now tell me why I'm wrong instead of labelling it "hate"

I can back up what I say.

Ok brainiac I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that I have been quoted nearly as many times?

You reckon that might have something to do with it?

Both have talent but big holes in their game.

                    Both have poor feet.

And they have a similar style aswell.

Toney is obviously better than Broner but yes the similarities are there.
the only similarity those two have, is they are both prizefighters....

Hmmm, no I don't think so.

Broner is basically a poor version of Toney. That itself is a similarity between the two.

I have given reasons as to why there are similarites between the two feel free to refute them.
