His other 154-168 guys barely fight each other now lol. Idk that this is that big of a loss. And fighting the top guys at those weights, like HBO has, is a bigger win for all parties with Jacobs including Haymon.
Well yea cuz when has HBO put a guy in a A side position in a main event fight when they didn't have a deal with him? I mean I'm sure its not completely unheard of, but its not a regular happening I think you'd agree. You gotta give to get sometimes thats what you guys who are too PBC oriented or to HBO oriented or whatever oriented don't seem to get or avoid trying to grasp.Haymon has had guys on HBO past few years but AS B Sides. Big difference. Danny will be the A side in his debut and A side against everyone but Canelo or GGG. He is the A side in spite of his limited affiliation with Haymon and not because of it.
I'm not saying Haymon doesn't have more power via PBC, but most of his power has nothing to do with PBC & was around previous to PBC. I believe he was on that random most powerful guys in boxing top ten list for years before PBC came around.Haymon had way more power with PBC. More fighters went with him because of it and he had more dates so he had more room in his stable. Now with just Showtime and even his 3 Fox dates a year and his FS1 series coming to and end there is even less room for this may fighters.
If Haymon's plan is keeping 30-40 guys on Showtime he's not as smart as I think. What channel has 30-40 guys on its roster? By only dealing with one entity you are lowering your ability to increase the bids for your guys & your fights. When he had multiple bigger network dates keeping guys "in house" per se via these networks was a solid plan, but now when you are only dealing with Fox as a major entity for showing your bigger fights besides Showtime its not attainable to keep guys in your own lil universe of options cuz there isn't enough dates on the schedule to fulfill the needs of your roster.I am sure his plan was/is to keep his core 30-40 on SHO and the lower level guys do what Jacobs did. Make no mistake, he doesn't want that premium group going with promoters. But which fighters are other promoters going to target? Those guys for sure
And if guys aren't staying active then you are lowering their value + your own value.
Maybe Haymon is holding ground cuz he gots something planned or something coming down the pipeline & Jacobs is just the random guy who's jumped over to HBO idk, but he'd be smart to let more guys go to HBO or wherever besides Showtime & Fox if he's not gonna keep those guys active on Showtime + Fox quick-like. And based on probably the most upward potential guy on his roster, Spence, left holding his **** without a fight date for 5 months after his title winning performance it says Haymon doesn't really have anything cooking. I mean Spence was talking fighting in Sept. at one point. Its Oct. & we still are just theorizing on him fighting in Dec. or Jan. Thats a huge f#cking problem when your biggest potential guy is all confused about his next fight.Last edited by Eff Pandas; 10-05-2017, 10:28 AM.Comment

thats what I mean. Guys like a mares off his jog December win had to wait till October to even get a tune up. Showtime is his only outlet. Fox is done and was only 3 cards this year anyway.
Fs1 had good fights for prospects and comebacks for veterans but that comes to an end this year too.
That's why he is essentially only on showtime. It's not a bad thing for 50 fighters. He needs to cut back.
HBP is only hbo. Top rank only espn.
Top rank imo has the advantage because all o the fights are streamed on espn3 and overall it's a bigger subscriber base.
It's easy to see why a Spence Jacobs Mares would want to leave pbcComment

Why would a manager need to cut back when their are options, but as you seem to think they aren't being used fully on purpose?thats what I mean. Guys like a mares off his jog December win had to wait till October to even get a tune up. Haymon just doesn't have rue dates.

As a manager you should just be looking at all the best offers out there for your fighters. If Haymon is hoarding all his fighters for limited dates on Showtime and Fox for PBC shows he's doing everyone a disservice including himself cuz 10% of nothing isn't good pay for him either.
So I doubt that's what's going on, but maybe HBO doesn't wanna deal with fighters without promoters so the guys HBO might be interested in aren't going to be PBC guys til the guy they want get a real promoter. And as far as I know none of the PBC franchise level fighters got a promotion backing them legit besides Stevenson I think. I don't even think Wilder is legit signed to DiBella I just think DiBella gots dibs on some PBC guys more than he has a binding contract with options and all that.Comment

Genius moves, Eddie. Your ideas are going to rejuvenate the sport.
Do some digital programming centered on boxing??? WOW, no one has ever thought of that. Genius idea.
Put a camera on Danny Jacobs and tell his story??? WOW, another great idea. No one has ever done that. Like I haven't been hearing Danny's story before every fight.Comment
