Floyd/Pacquiao should have happened in 2010 or 2011. He should have fought Paul Williams. With Margarito he should get a pass on that one due to obvious reasons. The Cotto & Mosley fights should have happened 3 or so years before they did. He shouldn't have fought Berto in his last night either. You don't hear about these types of things with the older generation so they're held in higher regard.
How long was Floyd on top???? and look at who these other ATG'S fought in their last fights man..FAR WORSE THEN BERTO!!!

      Top 3.

Dempsey today would say, ''I like that Eubank Jr. kid's style, trying to be like me but different... but Floyd that guy.... never seen a boxer take dips and rolls at more modern stationary level. What do they call that, the 'shoulder roll?' Heck, Floyd's an American, the kid's a technical genius. Long live USA!'' -

But they fought in their last fights when they were past their primes already. Floyd didn't fight anywhere near as much as the older generation so less wear & tear & different fighting styles. Robinson fought 150 times more than Floyd did for instance. In the end it'll always come down to resume as to whom people place above others. Floyd definitely deserves to rank at least somewhere in the top 10-15 I'd say but he'll never be considered the best.

Pacuqiaos ranking around the 30/40 mark on here as 8 weight world champ so guess thats not enough? Or should we just start a new ATG list because the modern fighters cant possibly live up to the greatness of these fighters who fought before boxing was an international sport and who most people on here havent ever seen fight....
See Sugar Ray Leonard. He has a 'modern fighters' resume in terms of number of fights and is regularly put in the top 10 all time lists.

He has multiple great wins. Took on his greatest rivals in or very close to their prime, and often came out with a win. Thats what all the guys in the top 10 ATG lists did from SRR to Armstrong to Greb to Charles to Langford to Ali etc. Floyd doesnt have those type of wins on his resume.

Its not biased to say Floyds opponents were not that strong (relative to who we are comparing him with). They just werent.

Top 25, without making my own list, seems fair to me. Though i think everyone needs a few years to get a bit of persepective on his career before judging him

If Duran is Co sidereal top 10, Floyd should be at least behind him.

Come on don't be deluded noiw. Floyd is supposedly the best still so no other atgs when they were still considered the best fighting guys like berto when there ewere tougher opponenents waiting. True atg need to go out on their shield. They need the passing of the torch, the next generation to show them they no longer have what it takes. Fkoyd went out with a whimper. The unbeasten recvord meant too much.

Floyd didn't go out on his shield. Floyd was still considered the best so fighting berto there was no excuse. The only reason you'd expect Floyd to fight berto would be if Floyd lost to GGG and then brook. So wanted to retiure with a win against berto. Similar to what BH tried do in his last fight.
Floyd's always accused of cherry picking so to fight berto is almost taking the mickey. Its just confirming what people always thought about Floyd and Floyd is fanning the flames. Floyd should have went out with statement rather than tail between his legs whimper

who did greb, armstong, charles and langford beat who were so great? These old timer american can get made to look so amazing because it wasnt an international sport back then. SO if you were number 1 on the domestic scene you were automatically best in the world. That era was weaker, not stronger. I dont understand how an era in which less countries participated in boxing, is considered stronger than the current one? If the weight classes today were made up purely of americans then of course its going to be easier to look good. What would jacobs cv look like if middlweight was just made of americans? Wilder would look unbeateable at heavyweight. Russell would be ruling the roost as there would be no lomachenko.

                  25-ish?

He is like a modern Marciano -- undefeated but his flagship opponents were outside of their peaks so the list is more impressive than the execution

Floyd in his career did all he was prepared to do. But even himsekf would be firsdt to admit he could have done more. But wasnt orepared to.Now he like a salesman will throw his sales pitc h at you for why you should puthim on pedestal he wants. Like trump trying g to convince yoiu he'd be good president. Floyd's case for being goat isnt dissimilar to trump
