Where does Mayweather rank realistically on an all time list?

Because there are so many belts and champions at each weight. You cant use that as an argument because it wasn't the same when a lot of the top fighters were fightingProbably in the top 10-15.
Dude beat more world champions than anyone in history. People only judge him for the 2nd half of his career, when he was "Money" and avoided risk in his 30s, but he was a killer at lightweight in his prime and fought everybody back when he needed to.
And yes, he did lose to Jose Luis Castillo the first time, but that's it. He won the rest of those fights, even the one against Maidana.
People just don't like the guy for . . . . . . . . .obvious reasons.Comment

He ranks just outside greats like Barney Ross, Jimmy McLarnin and Tony Canzeroni who all usually rank just inside the top 25. Those guys fought and beat multiple hall of fame inductees and they struggle to crack top 20. Floyd will have some hall fighters in the end but he never fought the best guys at the right time which is a stain on his record. Jimmy McLarnin fought more hall fighters than anybody with 14 on his record. I'm sure he beat 11 or 12 of them which is only 1 or 2 less than Greb. The problem with McLarnin's hall wins is he was heavier than most of them and the best of them were either shot or green so that's why he doesn't get ranked inside the top ten beside your Robinson's, Grebs and Armstrong. Floyd has great longevity the 0 and beat lots of champions but you have to remember he fought in a weekish era with multiple weight classes and trinkets. In terms of God given talent and technical skills he could be placed top 10 but his resume is no where near top ten worthy. Some people just don't know or dont want to know how deep and historically rich the sport is with great and highly skilled fighters. There is no shame at all in Floyd being placed somewhere between 25 and 35 which is where I'd have him.Last edited by DJ Enerate; 03-14-2017, 05:15 AM.Comment

He's the best fighter of his generation and he beat the next best guy with ease but no way does he crack the top 10. Just think about all the great boxers there were:
Muhammad Ali
Joe Louis
Evander Holyfield
Ezzard Charles
Archie Moore
Roy Jones Jr
Marvin Hagler
Jake LaMotta
Carlos Monzon
Sugar Ray Leonard
Sugar Ray Robinson
Tommy Hearns
Roberts Duran
Pernell WhitakerComment

Yeah, the guys from 50 years ago maybe, but for guys in his generation, it definitely separates him from even Pacquiao, Jones, Hopkins, De La Hoya, Barrera, etc. . .
I never intended to compare him to like Willie Pep & Sugar Ray Robinson & guys like that, just saying that for the modern era (with all the belts)dude is as good as it gets.Comment
