Be careful. Canelo has not proven to be that big an aside. He may be the face of boxing, but frankly he is a Cotto level PPV seller IMO, which is damn good. But He isn't nowhere near Manny, let alone Floyd or ODH.

HBO will however put significant marketing dollars behind it so maybe it will exceed 1 mil.

Just make the fight in Sept .

If he's a star, he can do 300k numbers or better against Jacobs. If he can't, then he doesn't deserve what he's asking against Canelo. Plain and simple.
How do you know Golovkin will do 300k vs Jacobs????

Jacobs/Quillin did just over 300k (386k) on regular Showtime. Jacobs/Mora II did only 547k viewers on Spike Tv!!!! Danny is not a freaking draw, that's what you guys don't seem to want to understand.

          Exactly. No one knows.

But these guys try to sway public opinion without having purview to negotiations.

Loeffler, Jacobs, Sanchez and Rozier have not said one thing to the public about negotiations. Hell, I don't even think Sanchez has access to the negotiation details because he's always referring to Tom. So for this guy named Eastcoast to automatically place the blame on Jacobs, is asinine.

Regarding "Jacobs using the purse bid as his last chip", break it down on where you're coming from? I would think the purse bid would be a disadvantage to Jacobs, unless you're saying if Team Jacobs wins the purse bid, Golovkin can't fight off HBO?

You guys are the ones saying GGG is a big star, sells out stadiums, stuff about the UK, etc. If he wants over 10 million against Canelo, GGG vs Jacobs better be able to do at least 300k or better.

If not, GGG isn't the star you guys claim he is.

Again, Tom Loeffler is on record saying GGG vs Jacobs is BIGGER than GGG vs Pepe La Pew.

Regardless how Jacobs vs Quillin played out, Jacobs vs GGG is the biggest fight on the table that Golovkin would've ever had in the U.S

                DeGale won't happen.
Saunders stock plummeted.and he's always been a C fighter IMO.
Eubank I don't see finding a pin anytime soon???

This is the order I want to see the fights.

                Saunders vs. Canelo
                Then
GgG vs. Canelo for aLl the BELTS

If not those better for Canelo stay at 154.

                Canelo vs. Andrade/Charlo Bros
Then Thurman and Spence in a year or two. Both easy could make 154.

                GGg vs. Jacobs

No other MW fight is worth watching after that. Maybe that Asian guy in a few years but GGG will be 38-39 by then...

The winner of the purse bid controls venue, date and network I believe. If DIbella wins the bid, he can force the fight off the 3/18 date in MSG HBO/K2 they are planning to stage the fight. I am not sure about the network ramifications but I don't think HBO wants him on SHO. (although, as some have pointed out, having him KO jacobs on sho wouldn't hurt GGG in any way).

I am not disagreeing with you at all. Danny is not a strong a side. However, as GGG's b side, he has much more value given that GGG's ratings are dropping as he continues to fight no hopers and the fact the WBA is ordering the fight to get one champion.

I hope this fight also allows K2 to raise GGG's ticket prices a bit to see if he can still fill arenas and attract the next level of fan as there is a huge difference between the fans that can afford to pay for the biggest fights.

I agree with you that fighting Danny Jacobs would be a great investment into GGG's career. Overpaying Jacobs would be like a marketing investment, so GGG could parade the accomplishment.

That said I don't see K2 being unreasonable with Jacobs. I imagine they're offering Jacobs $2mill and the pot is probably something like $6mill, that's a 33/67 split.

We won't know any details til next week, but I don't see what's holding up the deal. We know it has to be HBO, MSG - those are standard A-side/champ calls, especially when Jacobs doesn't have strong drawing power at Barclay or Showtime. HBO did recently give the green light for Klitschko to fight Joshua on Showtime, so if Haymon does win the bid, I don't see Golovkin having to vacate as it would damage his image, which is pretty important to building the Canelo fight. At the same time I don't see Showtime investing a ton of money into a fight (even at a slight profit), to potentially build up Golovkin who'll then go right back to HBO a slightly bigger star.
All of which I'm saying is, I don't see Danny Jacob's leverage for a much better deal.
