Hopkins didn't move up until he was 40.
Hagler didn't move up because there was no SMW.
Golovkin is not 40, and he's not moving up to SMW because that's the worst division in today's boxing.

Canelo is not at 160 and, bigger point, taking on greater challenges IS legacy defining.

The G-String Divas know that ass-whippings await Bumlovkin the moment he dares fight a live body @ 168lbs...

Just some facts and history of the last great middleweight champion trying to do what you laugh at golovkin attempting.

Nobody is asking gennady to do anything that hasn't been tried before, so cut the ****
This is a lie. Hopkins wanted a catchweight.

Yeah, but unlike Golovkin, Hopkins was willing to also appease smaller fighters (odlh) with a catchweight as well.

Yeah kind of like Golovkin offering to come to 154 for Floyd.

Hopkins wasn't offering catchweight to career Jr. Middleweights. He offered a catchweight to a fighter who won his first title at 130lbs and brought in a **** ton of cash.

Lara is known for being a big challenge, hell he's Canelo's best win.
Regarding 168, Jack, Degale, and Ramirez are more meaningful than anyone at 160 right now.

Yes, as far as GG goes, I think he's just coasting toward retirement and isn't concerned about the legacy factor. Since fans are obsessed with this and think these guys are superheroes though, legacy is always a relevant topic worth discussing.

I think that in a historical sense, "moving up" meant alot more than it does these days. And I think in the future it will mean even less. Guys like Broner have pretty much made it virtually meaningless by choosing the softest champs to pick belts off. No different than Jones choosing Ruiz to lift a belt off, and then never defending it. Yes, its in the history books, but I dont believe for a second that 50 years from now people will be watching Jones vs. Ruiz or Broner vs Paulie with awe and wonder........

Kell Brook was a career welterweight not a junior middle weight. Oscar hadn't been a junior lightweight for 12 to 13 years at the time that he fought Hopkins. Oscar had been a champion at junior middle weight and middle weight before fighting Hopkins. Once Golovkin demanded a catchweight of 164lbs for Ward his entire statement regarding weights that he would be willing to fight in became invalid.

All I've read is a bunch of excuses on why you hold different fighters to different standards.

Pac brought a new generation of fans (which is a good thing) that don't know much about the sport so they think that that is the standard of boxing

I remember when owning the division was more important
