Why is it when people mention GGG moving up Hagler is brought up?

There was no 168 division when Hagler was fighting...Leonard won the first recognized title there in 1988. Do people even know the history of the sport? Hagler would had had to jump straight to 175(which would have been chasing greatness)

cause 99% of the poeple here do not know boxing and basically just repeat what they heard someone else say and thought it fit their agenda, or view points.

I reckon you think it's better to move up while there's still unfinished business. You know. The Floyd way of doing it.

The situations are not identical, but it is an example of a fighter who didn't move up in weight being considered great, which is typically the accusation being levelled - that GGG isn't daring to be great. Myself I say who cares? it's the historians and fans of the future who'll make that call when the dust settles. As for GGG it's up to him what he chooses to do with his career.

Is the point you're making that we shouldn't support him or watch his fights? That people shouldn't be calling him a 'great' fighter? I think few actually do. If you check out a few threads where the question is raised even the majority of GGG fans acknowledge that he hasn't done enough. Or is the point you're making that fighters who have achieved more have more criticism leveled at them? Where are you actually going with this?

because people say 'all greats moved ' well they didnt cause hagler didnt. And people dont seem to understand that the whole point of weightclasses are that you fight at your best weight, against people of a similar size. isnt a crime to fight a your best weightlol

Unless you're Canelo, then every hypocritical DB will crucify you because they're dying to see their hero nab a legit name from a smaller weight class rather than moving up himself...

Great point. I like watching him fight and I think he's very talented. At the same time, though, no one's asking him to move up more than 5-6 pounds at the weight where he holds the RING belt and did have the WBC. If anybody should move up, it's this guy.
