But Hagler showed his ability against elite competition.

The best only elite fighter Toney "beat" was McCallum and I use the term "beat" loosely on that one.

Toney never showed he was on Hagler's level.

At 160, Hagler wins hands down. Aside from the Michael Nunn KO, James Toney was pretty much average at 160; Where he was beginning to show the first signs of a lack of discipline, dedication, commitment and professionalism to the sport of boxing.

James' training and nutrition habits, were eerily similar to that of one Roberto Duran's. He loved to party and would often let himself go between fights to the point, of frequently being plagued by both conditioning and weight issues. Not only in that particular weight class but for throughout most of his boxing career as well.

On the other hand, Marvin was the hungrier, more focused and disciplined of the two. He was very diligent and professional in his approach to the game because it was his livelihood.

Toney was absolutely not more skilled than Hagler.

            Hagler by very clear decision.

              HOW?

Normally I'd let IronDan do this but we're talking Marvin Hagler here. How the hell does James Toney beat Marvin Hagler? What advantage does he have?

Okay, Jones beating Hagler wide means nothing regarding a Toney fight. James Toney is nowhere near Roy Jones's level.

If Hagler is nothing special, then Toney is a bum. Toney lost to average and sometimes awful fighters. He never beat anyone worthwhile in a convincing way. Everyone good he fought, he struggled or got his ass kicked.

maybe i over used nothing special here ,not a goat like SRR or Monzon, just good HoFer ,i can see him winning with Toney i just see Tonys counter punching giving him edge on points,if Hagler can Move and box well for 12 rounds like Sugar ray leanard he can win easy but i cant see that.
