my point is, i know Degale was not a serious option because they dont plan on moving up anytime soon. They need to fight a top ten middleweight after brook...shYts getting embarassing for a so called p4p guy/monster

If Eubank had signed the contract, GGG would have been fighting a top 10 MW next! And if his fight with Brook does well in the UK, that will open the door to other options, including BJS and/or DeGale.

Yeah, that's the same response from Hearn that I linked to. It's a weird situation. Hearn says he has a contract with DeGale but DeGale says he didn't sign anything. "He never had me. He never had a signed contract with me so it's his fault anyhow."

Maybe Hearn has a contract that only applies to Chunky's UK fights, so if he fights Jack in Vegas, Hearn will have no part in that?

Hearn says he's DeGale's co-promoter for the US fights and is involved with Sky broadcasting the US fights. Not sure if he gets his standard cut from DeGale's whopping purses though, which would be all the more reason for Hearn to want to get a DeGale/Golovkin fight as part of their final deal.

I know Eubank's next fight is his last with Eddie, hopefully it's against Murray, though I would think that fight could headline on its own? I also watched a recent interview with Callum Smith saying his next move is on hold due to the hang-up on DeGale/Jack. He's anxious to get Jack before DeGale does.

DeGale's been saying the Jack fight will be in Vegas. You would think the most money could be made in London, but with Jack's relationship to Floyd and a nice site-fee from the MGM, it looks like Vegas. Steve Kim then reported last week on his pod-cast, that the rumor is DeGale's asking for $5mill for the fight, probably b/c he wanted UK and now he has to settle for Jack's backyard where Floyd has some pull.

But if that fight doesn't come off by September, then the chances for a DeGale/Golovkin fight could go way up. Not sure how popular DeGale is in the UK anymore, but I have to imagine Eddie would want to get a nice big fight out of DeGale before the end of their deal.

Correct me if I am wrong.. this interview was before the Madina fight.. & post that Hearn & DeGale have 1 fight deal left..

Also, to your point about DeGale-Jack, the last I heard is the fight negotiations aren't going that well because of the $5mil ask by DeGale..

Why not just call out Degale then? Haymon is the one matchmaking for Degale these days. Hearn will just promote him if he fights in the UK again

Hearn did GGG a favour by getting him the Brook fight once the Eubank fight fell through tbh. Instead of months of negotiations leading to nothing, he now at least has an easy fight on paper and gets to dabble in dat UK money

Eubank/Murray would be a good match, and just the kind of fight Jnr needs, imo, to prepare him for stepping up to Golovkin's level. But it wouldn't headline one of Hearn's PPV shows, if that's what you mean.

Jnr calling out GGG caused quite a stir in the UK, got a lot of people talking and obviously, left a lot of people dissappointed when it fell through, with the Eubanks copping the blame. Martin Murray, coming off a loss to Groves, would be seen as a climb-down, not just a step-down, for Jnr after that.

Murray has never been a big name over here. Only about 800k viewers watched his fight with GGG, and it was screened prime time on terrestrial TV. Golovkin wasn't as well known in the UK as he is now, but still, it was a UK fighter going for a world title, and hardly anybody was interested. Contrast that with David Haye, who pulled around 3 million viewers for both his fights against absolutely dire opponents on a fringe cable channel.

I thought Golovkin would only fight outside of the Middleweight division for "big fights"? Does a DeGale fight qualify as a big fight?
