Uh, yes. That was merely an excuse. Dariusz never got a gift decision and they allowed the US fighters coming over to bring a US referee with them, along with a US judge.

There's about a million incidences of forgein fighters getting robbed RIGHT HERE in the US, dude. As a matter of fact, German Axel Schultz' outright robbery against Foreman was fresh in the mind of German-based boxers around that time, I'm sure. In fact, when Dariusz finally lost, it was a close, controversial split decision IN GERMANY that did not go his way.

Thanks for stopping in to the discussion. Next time bring a little more to the table, thanks!

darius m was not in the top drawer, virgil hill was past his best, rocky was past his best (& was beatin darius m any way), griffin was past his best, & gonzales handed it 2 him

You have to remember, Eubank, or Eubanks as his name was then, came to the U.K. as an unknown "pugilist" in January 1988 and told all the local Hove newspapers that he was the best boxer in the country having learned to fight in New York, and having won gym wars every night against top New Yorkers for years. He also claimed Nigel Benn was a fraud in the press, and really laid into him. This was a man who quoted shakespear with a lisp, dressed impeccably, acted as though he was from the silver spoon society and won five fights in the U.K. with absolute ease, all while calling out pretty boy Gary Stretch and, following Benn's showing against Logan, started calling out Benn too. Benn verbally abused Eubank at boxing functions and tried to start fights with him at every given opportunity until it all came to a head at the NEC some time later. Their bitter, famous rivalry continued all throughout the 1990's until they finally, amazingly became friendly with eachother backstage at the 1999 Brit Awards.
ok i give up Eubank was the best boxer ever. Eubank Benn was the most important fight ever world wide...happy? great wonderful

Nobody, but he didn't fight often enough. He was more than willing to find anybody if the money was right though...

Bull****. You got one example. I've seen the Sven Ottke, Dariusz vs Hall, and Luan Krasniqi FIASCOS. Don't bull**** me as if I don't know what I'm talking about.

Furthermore, it's not an excuse. Roy was ****d by foreign officials before, and it is QUITE understandable to anyone that with reason why Roy didn't want to fight Dariusz IN Germany.
