That wasn't exclusively for you, Dan. Sterling "painted the picture" a bit. This sport deserves better than generic arguments. I understand you agree with certain things and disagree with others. You see? Boxing is as complex as you are as a human being. That's reason I love it personally.Comment

And that is the problem with your entire argument. Accused of this by WHO?This is where the discussion gets straight dumb. We're talking about making a direct comparison between Mayweather and Whitaker. Generic arguments are for mainstream sports. Not boxing. This is where we split hairs. Was Whitaker "boring" to a true purist? Was he a "runner" to a learned fan? **** no. Could Floyd be rightfully accused of those things by the same group? **** yes. But it's all subjective. IMO on issues like this one, this, is where we separate the true morons from the people that have half a clue and really understand the artform.
I don't know hardly any 'purist' who would call Mayweather a 'runner', or even 'boring'. Because most who DO 'understand the artform' never posit that and, just like with Pea, understand exactly what they are watching. There is an appreciation for their ability to continually dominate world class fighters by rendering them offensively impotent.
The only folks I see claiming otherwise are either 'self proclaimed purists' who dislike Mayweather for non-boxing or stylistic reasons or 'casual fans' looking for bloodsport.
You can't have it both ways. You can't dismiss the (false) accusations of Whitaker being 'boring' or a 'runner' as a 'non purist' viewpoint and then turn around and make the exact same (and equally false) accusation against Mayweather.
That's like a Packer fan saying Cam Newton dabbing after a TD is 'disrespectful' while applauding your team's QB discount-double-checking all around Lambeau Field.
Nah, bruh.Comment
Right?
