Can we please drop all the pretence and just admit it: he's one of the most talented fighters of all time, but he was also one of the most boring. His 49-0 is an achievement, I admit, but out of the 49 fights there are probably only a few I find interesting, and that's being very generous.
its pretty boring seeing a fighter dominate 90% of the time I must admit...I appreciate the skill level, know how, abilty to adapt and how hard he works.

Takes two to tango and in the era he fought in there was no one to really force him to empty his bag of tricks or push him

Ricky Hatton was the closest to it and he got knocked out...Jesus Chavez went ape**** and forced Floyd to stand his ground. Mayweather was injured vs Castillo but we also saw an exciting fight......there is a reason why he hasnt been bullied in the ring. No matter how tough people are, very few are willing to go out on their shield and get KTFO and end up being happy just to hear the final bell.

Let's be honest...Mayweather made a lot of money by being boring. People watched to see him lose. Which is why I believe Lara would do good numbers against GG or even Jacobs. People want to see runners and clinchers get beat to pulp.

he gets penalized for being too good, ive even seen people say "why doesnt he challenge himself for once and be an underdog" theres nobody hell be an underdog against unless he moves to a weight he doesnt belong

If he stood still, fighters would be able to hit him and he would be more exciting.

I was never a big fan of his but I can completely understand why some people were. He epitomised the skill side of boxing, and would consistently do things that you'd never see anyone do anywhere else. From an academic POV watching his fights was like listening to a masterclass in economics from Milton Friedman. But I guess I just want more from a boxing match than sublime skills used solely in the pursuit of victory. Passion, a desire to take risks to please the crowd, a degree of vulnerability, those are the things that get me fired up. Mayweather was too much the perfect boxer for me to truly enjoy watching fight. He never engaged my emotions, only my mind.

Can you imagine a comment like this in any other sport about a man that was unquestionably the best of his era and proved it, mastered his craft, was a mainstream star, and competed in the biggest selling event in the sport's history while generating well over a billion dollars in revenue.

If that's bad for the sport, please tell us what the fuck is good for the sport?

Did you see the Guerrero, Canelo, Mosley fights to name a few? Or the biggest dud in history v Pacquiao?
