Is Joshua the real deal?

I think Joshua has better potential than Fury, he set-up a particularly nice shot against Whyte when he lured him to the ropes, caught a shot with his left and fired the right (not part of those gifs). Fury has honed his craft more, a lot more experience and knows who he is but I hope Joshua can get there.
I hate the hype Joshua is getting from knocking out guys that don't throw back. It takes a special person to not let that go to your head and I think it's gone to Joshua's head. Someone needs to let him know this isn't Mr.Olympia too and new footwear, current pair has led soles.
People with good defence's do not get knocked down by feather fisted fighters. Pajkic had him down and Cunningham had him down, a fuckin' cruiserweight. Now, you either accept one of two things;
a) Paper mache chin
b) Leaky defence, feet get caught
I can't remember the Hammer fight but Klitschko is nothing to go off, the guy was scared stiff.

I think you're reaching there, Fury has become a completely different fighter compared to old. Is this because he lost weight? No, it's because he fights behind the jab now and boxes rather than getting into tear ups.It takes skill to gauge distance and keep your opponent out of range while you land your punches. If you're overweight and untrained he that becomes a whole lot harder as moving becomes much more difficult and your timing is off. this effects you defence, offence, everything.Comment

of course fighters get better with time as they're more experienced and develop their skills but him losing weight and being properly prepared nowadays has had a huge impact.Comment

Well in that case does Wlad have a good defense? How many times has he been dropped like 15?I think Joshua has better potential than Fury, he set-up a particularly nice shot against Whyte when he lured him to the ropes, caught a shot with his left and fired the right (not part of those gifs). Fury has holes in his defense (notably the overhand right) but you can have holes in your defense and still have a good defense.
And you can have a good defense and still get hit, hurt and dropped.
Pernell Whitaker was dropped by Poli Diaz, Hurtado, Buddy McGirt and Julio Cesar Vasquez these are hardly monster punchers so what does that mean that Whitaker didn't have a good defense or a bad chin? Because I'm pretty sure he's pretty damn solid in both of those areas.
Fury's chin defintely isn't good that's been shown but how many times has Fury been legitimately hurt or wobbled?
I just can't see how you can say that Fury has no skills or defense. He clearly has both.Comment

As I said, all boxers have some skill. I wouldn't say boxing behind a jab is skilful. When Rigondeaux is mentioned, skills are mentioned alongside his name. You don't mention skills next to Tyson Fury's, do you.
No, Wlad has a shit defence which is why he grabs and hugs. It works but I wouldn't say it's skilful and I feel the same way with Fury.
I won't pretend to remember those knockdowns against Whitaker and I'll look for myself but he was known to drop his hands and do a jig. I don't think comparing someone who could afford to be so absent minded with his defence to Fury works.
I didn't say Fury has no skill or defence. I think it's ridiculous to mention 'skill' as an advantage over his handspeed, footspeed, workrate etc - none of which were mentioned when discussing Fury's advantages. Don't be pedantic.Comment

I'm not comparing Tyson Fury to Pernell Whitaker I'm using the logic you've used for Fury and applied to to Whitaker. Getting dropped doesn't mean a guy has a poor defense and Whitaker is the poster boy for that as he was dropped many times in his career. As I said, all boxers have some skill. I wouldn't say boxing behind a jab is skilful. When Rigondeaux is mentioned, skills are mentioned alongside his name. You don't mention skills next to Tyson Fury's, do you.

Boxing behind a jab isn't necessarily over skilled but it's shown that Tyson has learned that and implemented it to his game because early in his career he had no jab. Now he has a good jab, that's done with skills. Earlier in his career his footwork was poor and he uncoordinated, now it's very good and smooth and coordinated, that's done by skills. The fact he's improved so drastically is predominantly down to his skills. Yeah ok, you can say When you think of Fury you don't think skills like a Mayweather or a Rigondeaux but I think that point is just weightless to be honest. You don't think "Kovalev" and immediately think "skills" but it would be ridiculous to say Kovalev isn't a very skilled fighter much like Tyson Fury is also.Comment

Many times fury has been clocked going straight back..never seen fury throw combination...never seen him fight on the inside...never seen him take a decent shot without going down, just wait till fury tries that silly arms by the side with an aggressive ****er like wilder or joshua , he has no coordination what so ever...his balance is all over the show and he throws silly arm punches....on the other hand joshua loads up on powerful combinations, he can counter you and come back, he can finish in the inside or outside and he can simply overpower you and walk right through you, he has also shown he can take a shot and come right back , this is from a guy who has had only 15 fights as well...the reason why klitchko couldn't do anything is because he is a programmed robot who does the same thing with fight after fight and he was able to do that before because most of his callengers were physically smaller with height and reach, don't forget Corrie sanders and lemon Brewster knocked klicthcko into tomorrow because they had movement and quick hands....all klitchkos victories were against plodding small fighters with no ability to adapt...there is absolutely nothing in furys armour that could back up or worry an anthony Joshua in a years time...that I guarantee...it's not gonna be long to see his outcomeComment

There's only a few guys that you would look at and think skills and that would be pure boxers like Rigondeaux, James Toney, Ezzard Charles, Hopkins and Mayweather to an extent but earlier in his career when I watched Mayweather I mostly thought speed, power and length. There was actually a thread in boxing history a few weeks ago which asked who was the most skilled fighter ever? I said Tomny Hearns but you can easily dismiss his skills because of the freakish physical advantages he has. In that case you would also have to dismiss a lot of other fighters who you would consider skill full but also have crazy physical advantages like Leonard, Ali, Robinson etc. No one would do that and we shouldn't be doing that to Tyson Fury.Comment
