Do you think for 1 second if Espinosa called Arum or Oscar offering them dates they wouldnt take them??
I actually doubt at the moment that if it was a fight HBO wanted that either GBP or Top Rank would cross the street to Showtime. Now if it was a fight HBO didn't want, then probably.

HBO is too important to both those companies. They shouldn't piss them off if they don't have to.

Showtime burned a lot of bridges to make haymon happy to try and keep their fighters on showtime for years. But now they are tied to the hip with haymon. This is why I say showtime was in much better shape years before they jumped in bed with haymon. They had working relationships with multiple top promoters but from 2013 to 2014 they really screwed up. Early this year you saw when haymon left they had nothing to fall back on because all those other promoters were not helping showtime out. Showtime if they are going to survive needs to find a way to mend things with all the other top promoters because they are too dependant on haymon and we already seen haymon has the ability to take all his fighters away at the drop of a dime because showtime foolishly allowed them to operate with no fighter contracts. Showtime needs to deal with multiple promoters and get guys signed up.

Well thats the thing you aren't understanding I guess than. You don't think HBO woulda been interested in Fonfora vs Chavez Jr, DeGale vs Bute or Jacobs vs Quillin which were or will be Showtime fights? Those are all Haymon fighters & good fights that I could easily have seen as HBO fights. There are many roads a PBC/HBO collaboration could take. GGG vs the Jacobs vs Quillin winner is just one road.

I agree with you 100% that Haymon made a complete chump out of Espinosa. I just disagree that things are as dire for Showtime as you think they are. Espinosa could swallow his pride, and reach out to Bob, Oscar, Shaw, K2, Duva, Artie Pelullo, etc, and put some fights together in about 20 minutes.

I am bringing it up because I actually didn't know before you mentioned but I had no idea that the DeGale vs Bute fight had already occurred, must have flown way under the radar.

Oh that poor Espinoza. Got that position at Showtime and then Haymon screwed him over by helping to bring Showtime boxing back to the fore and then providing the two biggest boxing fights in the sport's history. And still getting fights even though they could have cashed out after May. Poor, poor guy.

For the record, Nelson doesn't say anything like he wants to work with Haymon. He says he's willing to work with any promoter on his platform (HBO). Has nothing to do with Haymon at all.

Chavez was a big favorite to win that fight and while decent HBO was trying to make Chavez vs GGG before he signed to haymon. And Degale if he was an HBO fighter would be facing a much better fighter then Bute. Likely a fighter like Ward. And if Haymon put either Jacobs or Quillen against GGG both would be an underdog as would most of haymon fighters against HBO top fighters so why do it if you haymon and likely see your fighter lose and you can't control everything like you can if you stage fights on PBC or showtime? The level of fights HBO allows and the level Haymon is having his fighters fight at is a big part of the problem with HBO and Haymon. And the money haymon expects for that lower level of fights and his refusal to commit to better fights or sign contracts to ensure better fights. Showtime because they are so dependant on haymon fighters have no choice or leverage HBO has better fighters and does not need to play on haymons terms.

If that is that simple for showtime then why didn't he do that early this year instead of basically throw away half the year with no programming while haymon had all his fighters on PBC? It was more the 20 min more like 6 months where he could barely find any fights for his network. I think those relationships are harder to repair then you think.
