Great fighters have moved up several.

Ergo....GGG fans have absolutely no faith in him becoming a great fighter.

you can become a great fighter in one wieght class, particularly at middleweight, where the jump used to be up to 175, where you'd fight guys who dropped weight to get there / would often fight at HW.

golovkin's fans don't have faith that he can beat andre ward. they were all for 168 lbs against froch, chavez JR.

at least they're realistic. ward is a bad, bad style for golovkin. his chin is good enough, and he's good enough on the inside to take away golovkin's potential advantages in power. ward's also got a heck of a jab himself, not as hard or as frequent, but just as accurate.

Yes Golovkin is going to become an ATG off the back of Andy Lee and Turano Jackson.....

doesnt matter if Ward said it, because things Ward says are only "aspirational statements" that shall never be held against him lol

... 11 months or not, Ward came down from the light-heavy at the Olympics to middleweight at the pros. (And, please, don't remind me the "Dirrell situation", again.)

These types of arguments always depend on who you want to see lose. Rigo, for example, never had this demand from the same people to move one weight class above even though he can't find anyone to fight him in his division.

Can he not fight at 168 or as he suggested perhaps 164 and unify 160 after that fight? It seems people don't want that fight to happen because there is a chance GGG could lose. I think he has a good shot to beat Ward, and even if he loses a loss wouldn't really hurt him, people love to watch this guy fight.
Those fights are meaningful because they advance Golovkin's personal goal of title unification. Who the hell is any fan to say that is not a valid goal to shoot for? How can you be a fan of the sport and not want to see an UNDISPUTED TITLE HOLDER in ANY DIVISION?

Is it Golovkin's fault that he is the best middleweight in the world today? NO! IT IS NOT!

Should he be punished and demonized for that?

Some of you people should be embarrassed to call yourself boxing fans. You are not fans of the sport. You do not want to see history made. How many fighters actually have a chance to become an UNDISPUTED, UNIFIED CHAMPION in boxing today with all the political hurdles in the sport? How long had Kovalev been trying to overcome the politics? Wlad?

Well Golovkin is in the position to become UNDISPUTED UNIFIED CHAMPION and he is supposed to set that aside to take a meaningless ****ing fight against a lazy meaningless ****ing Andre Ward who does not even have enough respect for the sport to actually get his ass in the ring against the other champions in his own division?

Boxing fans my ass. You guys are pitiful.

just quoting this guy to make sure he doesn't delete his post

"i want to unify meaningless alphabet titles. it's more meaningful than fighting a top p4p fighter who is only around 5-10 lbs larger than i am naturally."

the more significant fights for the sport of boxing are those between top p4p fighters, not nobodies like andy lee at MW

your card is pulled, man. the whole thread knows you're delusional and biased.

The fact you call someone that's fought his entire career at 168 "Two weightclasses above" makes me think you have an agenda. It's rather deplorable.

maybe ward peed in his oatmeal?
I love the sport and boxers who actually GET IN THE RING AND FIGHT MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWO YEARS.

Ward is a little princess who thinks she is above normal requirements of the sport. And there are far too many boxing media sucking his **** for him.

And FYI... I happen to think that Golovkin beats Ward as easily as he beat Lemieux last night. I just see no reason for him to put his MW title chase on hold to gain and then to lose weight for a fight that means nothing in the big picture.

Once Golovkin has achieved his goal and unified all the titles, then they can talk about a Ward fight. Ward doesn't want it before Fall of 2016 anyways so what the hell is the problem? GGG will pick up the vacated WBC title after the Cotto - Canelo fight and can fight Lee in February and win his title and then he will have achieved his goal.

Why doesn't Ward try to get a title fight or two at 168 while he is waiting? What is he waiting for?
