and they startred boycotting the heavy divisions years ago

they will be left with 2 options: Crawford or MMA

Of course I cannot expect someone from Oakland to actually see Ward without rose coloured glasses on. He is such a hero down there. Such a hero that he cannot even fill his own local arena by giving away free tickets.
Yeah... he is totally relevant in the sport today.
I am not from Oakland and I can tell you that you are talking a load of BS. Nothing to gain?!! Are you serious? It would make him instantly the best pound for pound fighter on the planet. If you don't think there is value in that then you are an idiot. In addition it will be a big money fight, not crazy money. But probably 3-5 times what he has made previously. It might not pay as well as the Cotto v Canelo winner, but it also could be considering that GGG will be a significant B side in either of those fights. Boxing is about taking calculated risks, and whilst clearing out 160 which you would think would include Cotto - Canelo winner might be more lucrative, that route also includes risk. Let me explain:

Say GGG faces the winner of that fight and does not look good, struggles in a war, or even loses. He will gain lots of attention and if it is a good fight then maybe a rematch or trilogy could happen. But the downside is that his stock drops, and the Ward fight is probably off the table, as he will be at 175 by the time GGG moves up.

There is risk in both sides, but you cannot sit here and tell me that there is nothing to be gained from fighting and beating Ward. That is pure ******ity. Do you know how much there is to be gained by just being able to market a fighter as the best p4p fighter in the world? It would put GGG on to another level. But I can tell you it won't happen, his team don't have the confidence, you guys should drop it already, let it go. He will not fight Ward, I can tell you and if I represented him I would go the Cotto-Canelo route also. If you spoke to anyone who understands the business of boxing and is on the inside they would tell you that fight will probably never happen, because when it does...the gravy train ends. His team knows that his chances in that fight are not great.

People want to see it for a few reasons:

        1. Ward fans think GGG is overrated and want Ward to beat him.

        2. GGG fans think Ward is overrated and want GGG to beat him.

        3. Boxing fans know that they're styles clash and that makes it intriguing.

I'm all for the fight, but I want GGG-Cotto/Canelo first and I'd be a damn liar if I said I don't want Ward-Kovalev

Don't even know what they're arguing about. It takes two to tango. They're blaming GG and fans but not Ward... Okay, I'm a fan and I want to see the fight happen. What should I do now? It's so ******. "Waaa, they don't want to see the fight happen...waaa..."

In reality Ward is the one that should be exerting huge effort in making the fight happen. He's the one who has all the time in the world. If he's interested, he would make an offer the other side would have a hard time refusing. Now is the time to act. No sense in waiting for the Cotto/Canelo winner.

Because they don't like a fighter with his complexion making head waves in the sport and want him disadvantaged at an unnatural weight class for him against a bigger man so he loses....
