I'm getting a feeling of deja vu now. I remember somebody saying this before BHop fought Kovalev. Was it you, by any chance?

      1) If you are a Golovkin fan, you need to stop dissing Wards resume

      2) If Ward is not the best SMW, then who is ?

The fact that Ward IS the best SMW - despite inactivity - speaks volumes.

      3) the bold is absurd, he must have fluked that Olympic Gold Medal

You dont like being right very often, do you ?

        No, it was not.

There is a very good reason why Hopkins would not fight Ward at 168, but had no problem fighting Kovalev at 175.

Golovkin knows what that reason is, and Kovalev will find out soon

Ward is a fighter, he will not see Kovalev as the boogieman, like you guys do.

Of the current top 10 SMWs, Abraham is the only one Ward has beaten, and that was a loooong time ago.

I would say DeGale is the best in the world at 168 right now.

Hopkins didn't fight Ward at 168 and Ward didn't fight Hopkins at 175. They were friends, and in different divisions. No great mystery there.

And BHop, btw, had a LOT of problems fighting Kovalev at 175. Kovalev decked and schooled him, remember?

Now lets tell the whole story..... Abraham is currently ranked #1

Outside of Ward, I would also pick Degale.

But Ward is currently the best SMW on the planet.

                No, they weren't.

Hopkins wanted nothing to do with Ward because he understands styles.

                Kovalev made Hopkins look old.

Yes they were and still are.

I accept though, that Ward's tricky style would not have been a good pick for BHop. But I'm damn sure Ward would not have decked and schooled him the way Kovalev did.

Kov is a power puncher there is no doubting that , Ward is a master boxer there is no doubting that , you cannot compare the winning styles and say one is better because he beat a guy using a method he is renown for .

Some of the arguments in here make no sense Kov cant box guys like Ward can and Ward cant KO guys like Kov can , means fck all when they fight each other because of how the styles mesh on the night , Floyd has got to have taught you guys power is nothing if it doesnt land , they both elite champions that will make for a very interesting match .

I must one of a few I really like Ward Kov and GGG pretty much equally and see fault in all of them .

No, Hopkins stated that they could not fight..... but Ward stated that they absolutely could fight no problem, so long as that fight made financial sense.

                      I remember it very clearly.

And, Kovalev and Ward have completely different styles..... the outcome of their (potential) fight against Hopkins would have no bearing on the outcome of a Kovalev/Ward matchup.

Kovalev made Hopkins look old in that fight. 40yo Hopkins may have been able to do what 50yo Hopkins could not.
