Doubt it. Unlike Lemieux, casuals dislike Ward's style and that's who you're trying to sell the PPV to. On top of that, Ward wants more money, and doesn't bring an extra revenue stream like Lemieux Canada PPV.

Y'all buggin. This is what they should have said to begin with. A lot better than saying 164 or nothing.

EDIT: But yeah I'd like the fight to be at 168.

Ward's got no such options. Can we assume this upcoming fight vs scrub fight will be his 2nd tuneup for Kovalev? Or how many does he need?
Of course it's a better path as he finally gets to fight a somewhat relevant fighter , save face with his fans that he's still a tough guy, gets to happily side-step Ward and perpetuate his hype train a little longer . Absolutely a better path ! Glad we can agree on something .

Yeah I'm sure he'll be devastated as he sells out MSG, goes PPV, and sets up a monster unification vs Canelo. Enjoy Ward vs scrub on an undercard. When will he stop avoid Kovalev IYO?

We can agree to disagree but Pac is a international superstar and his fight vs Algeri did a meager 400k buys on PPV , while his fight vs Mayweather did 4.5 million buys on PPV . It's all about match ups like I said before .

Ward vs a can here and a scrub there every now and again = no big deal

I can only imagine if I was a GGG fan and had to endure and sleep through him fighting 15-20 cans in a f.cking row = a very big deal

You're not allowed to ask Golovkin critics about why Ward has refused to step up against a top LHW for 3 years after he said he would. Especially now that he's changed his stance by saying he needs to become a full-fledge LHW - to which Ward fans are fine with, but yet they cry because Golovkin won't concede the weight advantage to Ward.

In fact you're not allowed to ask why Ward rejected fights with Bute & Stevenson either because he felt they needed to prove themselves more, while he says he'll fight Golovkin now despite also saying Golovkin needs to prove himself.

uh what does that have to do with Ward? Mayweather is PPV attraction #1, Ward last fought on BET with 300k viewers.

That would be a good point if Algieri were relevant. One name on a card isn't enough though, I agree. Actually even some PPVs with two names don't do crazy numbers - like Sergio Martinez vs Chavez Jr.

Martinez/Cotto only did 315k. Crazy to think Golovkin/Lemieux may very well beat that, at any rate they're guaranteed to beat Hopkins/Dawson at 50k.
