@SugarRaRobinson, I can only recall one post-Super6 Ward fight (against Dawson) which I can honestly say was exciting. Other than that, he's been paired with pedestrian opponents and therefore wasn't under any pressure to resort to holding (unlike the atrocious hug-fest that was Ward-Kessler).
When BHop-Kovalev was announced, I thought, crap, Bernard is going stink it up all night with that lead-right-cross-clinch. But Kovalev, whose boxing skills and ring savvy were underrated, took any inside game away from Bernard, completely shut him out; and consequently Bernard had to take a lot of punishment to hear the final bell standing up.
I think Ward now knows he won't be able to hold Kovalev on the inside because the Russian 1) is the bigger man who's too strong for that tactic, and 2) he has the skills to keep Ward at the end of his long-range weapons.
This creates a level of risk that makes it easier for Ward to target the smaller Golovkin. Fighting GGG would probably net him a bigger payday also.

I'd rather see Ward go up and fight Kovalev than to fight the smaller Golovkin. To me that fight is much more intriguing.

It's Ward who needs to do something. Do you really wanna see him on an uncard vs Periban? The Kovalev fight is there, what's the holdup?

1)Ward's not priority right now , unification is
(Only used when the other excuses don't fit at the moment)
2)Ward wants rigid terms , and we're not letting him dictate (A complete myth)
3)There still hadn't been any negotiations
(How can there be when u won't agree to sit down with Ward and HBO exec's)
4)Ward doesn't bring anything to the table
(Might be the worst deception of them all considering GGG'S whole career had been built on mentioning Ward's name and thereby making the fans salivate)
5) GGG'S options are so plentiful at moment that Ward is not really a top priority at the moment .
(More mythology, Lemieux actually bailed this guy out , as his fans were at their wits end and couldn't bear watching him demolish another can . Lemieux was his saving grace , Cotto is scared death of him and will probably choose to vacate before fighting him . Canelo will fight him eventually, , but Oscar may find a way to buy time before it happens )
6) Opps , this one missed fired but stay tuned as the I'm sure the GGG camp is arduous looking for another convienent excuse to pacify it's fans .

Golovkin offered to move up to SMW twice for big money fights with Froch and Chavez. On the other hand Andre Ward turned down a 2 fight offer with Adonis Stevenson - the first fight at 168lbs in Oakland, the 2nd fight at 175lbs in Montreal - now that's a proper b*tch move.
