Comments Thread For: Kovalev on Golovkin's Power, Says He's a Harder Hitter

I think it's possible. Kovalev is more aggressive and puts his whole body behind almost all his shots, often throwing himself off balance, while GGG takes the time to set up his shots and maintains his balance. So Kovalev might get you out of there quicker, not necessarily because he has more power but because he fully commits more often.
30 lbs is an exaggeration, he's probably about 15 lbs heavier. Cloud is on the record saying GGG has the power of a LHW, and CW Afolabi said GGG hurt him in sparring.
BHop got dropped twice by Mercado at MW, and he got staggered by Echols in the first fight, also at MW.
Krusher gassing the public....sure GGG can crack but c'mon man, Krusher would put the dudes GGG fought on ICE...when have you seen BHop get dropped and put in check from the very first shot he took?!?....Krusher got Hop's respect too early for Hop to mount ANYTHING....I doubt GGG can make Hop put his guns away and play keep away!!Comment

Everyone needs to know that Golovkin knocked Sergey Kovalev out in Big Bear. You can say all you want about sparring, I do understand that, but it was a body shot, that stopped the best 175 in the world.
Just think about that for a minute.Comment

I actually saw the video of Kovalev saying this, I feel like he was being nice about Golovkin.
Murray doesn't have a solid chin?
Dream on.Comment

So what.
So Kovalev is soft downstairs, big deal, so are a lot of fighters.

Listen, its sparring..... guys are at different stages of preparation, so 1/both can tire/wear more easily, are softer, are less-focused, etc.....
You cant blow that off bro by saying "you can say all you want about sparring", you just cant..... sparring is MUCH different than a boxing match.
If Golovkin could walk through LHW's, he wouldnt change the subject everytime Wards name is mentioned, and he would fight Lara in a heartbeat.Comment

I would watch GGG vs BHop at say 170-172.

Based on styles, GGG will not beat Andre Ward.
Apparently, you heard it here first.
Folks rate Kovalev against Ward mostly because of size/power..... forgetting that Ward won a gold medal at LHW, and due to his P4P style has no problems with larger opponents.
They also forget that Ward would be a LHW when that fight rolls around.
I give both GGG and Kovalev a very small chance of beating Ward.
GGG, almost none, a small punchers chance. Kovalev has better length/style, but I havent seen anything from him to suggest that he could topple Ward, who is likely the most well-rounded fighter in the game today.
There is a reason why Hopkins refused to fight Ward, but had no problem fighting Kovalev.Comment

Pascal didn't have to touch that hat. That's it. And also "deep sleep" is a bit less heated than pictures of graves with other fighter initials and ripped off body pieces?
Kovalev is a mean person. No dubt. He's background is city in Russia where (that times, now it's less interesting but still tough region) large % of his generation ended up in prison or got killed.
Say/do something against him and there will be no humility - he's very straight about it.Comment
