  • Comments Thread For: Kovalev on Golovkin's Power, Says He's a Harder Hitter

BoxingScene.com and ES News recently caught up with WBA/WBO/IBF light heavyweight champion Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (27-0-1, 24KOs) who faces Nadjib Mohammedi on July 25th in Las Vegas in a HBO televised main event.

The 32-year-old Russian is known for his crushing punching power and used to train under the guidance of Abel Sanchez who trains another hard hitting fighter in Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30KOs).

Classy and honest answer from the light heavyweight champion; Kovalev is not the jealous or envious type. Think any of this will register with Carl "My size, strength would end Glolovkin's streak." Froch?

Uh oh, sounds like he used the same illegal gloves on Kovalev that he used on Monroe & Rosado!!!

Every fighter describes Golovkin's punches not the hardest but different. He's probably one of these, once-in-a-generation freakish puncher.

After reading this honest answer from Kovalev, Froch may consider retirement as a better alternative to fighting GGG, even it would have been at Wembley in front of 80 thousand people.

Kovalev and GGG are two great fighters today, I want to see them continue to see them excel in KO's for many more years, break records and demolish slick fighters, hard punchers and run down Chickens then CHOP OFF THEY HEAD with that good shot.

I guess this answers the question of who hit's harder between Kovalev and GGG.

When a fighter admits you hit harder than they do, you know it's something serious.

Lets get real here there is no way he punches as hard as Kovalev. Kovalev has 30 pounds on him and is absolute freakish puncher for his weight class. I can't see GGG putting a dent into 190 pound iron chinned fighters like Cleverly, Pascal and Hopkins.

Why would Golovkin use "illegal gloves" in sparring?! You must be trolling. Only an absolute fool will believe that. Where is the evidence he used "illegal gloves" for Monroe and Rosado?

Very true. GGG is a beast but if he went into the ring on against a durable light heavyweight, he would be out of luck.... But that's 2 whole divisions heavier so totally understandable. Not to mention, he comes in on fight night 165, and most LHWs come in 185 and up.
