Let's see what Ward does to Paul Smith first. And for my money, both GGG and Kovalev are of a different breed than any other opponent Ward has faced. Specifically, there isn't an opponent that Ward has faced professionally who would not be beaten by GGG an Kovalev, but their K.O. percentage would be far higher than what Ward achieved (much the same as for the fighters GGG defeated at middleweight and Kovalev defeated at light heavyweight).

Lets get real here there is no way he punches as hard as Kovalev. Kovalev has 30 pounds on him and is absolute freakish puncher for his weight class. I can't see GGG putting a dent into 190 pound iron chinned fighters like Cleverly, Pascal and Hopkins.

Cruiserweight Ola Afolabi has said Golovkin hits like a heavyweight.

Kovalev hits on the move and rarely sits down on a shot. Golovkin sits down on every punch.

Golovkin probably won't be beaten in a gunfight anyway. Whoever beats him will more likely do it by smothering him or pot-shotting him. It's enough to know that he hits hard.

It would be out of character for Kovalev to say he hits harder than his friend. Likewise if you ask GGG who hits harder of the two, he'd probably say Kovalev. That is friend behavior.
