Haymon is just the latest in a line of predators....whether slamming heads in the streets of Cleveland while running numbers, or going to Yale, Harvard and deciding to take money as a lawyer, contract maker instead of as a banker. These guys are very smart, they study their mark well and clean up because of a lack of regulations.

Boxing is a sport. It has never needed promoters. Sports are a funny animal, they become parasitic to other institutions. In football colleges became the big money sandlot leagues complete with a slave auction every year we know of as the "draft." Colleges care little about sports as development for students these days because of this well moneyed relationship to football. Boxing became a guise for criminals with an interest in fixing the matches and controlling the fighters and that spirit has never left. Guys like Arum and Haymon have made it so they are a necessity and how come? a boxer needs a manager not a promoter and so many sports manage to interest the fans with no promoters... go figure.

Athletes are always a tool for explotation. If anyone was really good for the fighters they would have health plans, mandatory savings plans because of inevitable health problems and...athletes would take home more of their money. Haymon wants a quik buck and plans to get it off the backs of fghters because there is nothng new under the sun!

          P.S. serious discussion please.......no trolling.
reason why quillin and thurman are turning down deals is because they have no say in the matter, the contract details were release and it says they cant even accept a fight without haymon permission, so its not like they cant just cut their contract with haymon and sign with someone else.

and reason why every boxer is running with haymon cause who dont want a career high payday for fighting bums? its a dream come true, you dont have to fight any real threat and still get paid.

He needs to cut the bull **** and give the fans more, with all those boxers he manages.

He's milking all these guys at the fans expense. Half if them are hype jobs, but we would never know because that's the Haymon way.
This man, he has a huge stable, and he has only provided a few good matches. You literally posted three decent matchups for this entire year (one of them hasn't even happened yet) out of a huge roster. If you don't see the problem here, I am afraid you are not really a boxing fan, because you should want to see as many competitive match ups as you can.

Hes not the only one doing it but go ahead and blame him for all that is wrong in this sport. Cant wait for pac v algeri or bradley v chavez. Blockbuster fights right there

Haymon isn't doing it any more than these other promoters/managers.
Yes he is. Berto stepped up his competition after losing his 0 but before that his resume was horrible for a world champion. Especially when you consider all the HBO dates he got.

Garcia-Herrera was supposed to be a tune up. Fights like that I don't have a problem with. Garcia-Salka was horrible. I don't think I've ever seen the consensus #1 fighter in his weight class fight the 77 ranked fighter in the class below him. Especially since Lamont Peterson fought on the same damn card, but for some reason they couldn't fight each other. Oh, and don't forget this was headlining a Showtime Championship boxing card.

If the fans are not getting the fight they want and deserve, that's bad for boxing.

                  I don't give a **** if it's Al Haymon, or Al Sharpton...that doesn't ****in matter.

A roster as talented and as large as Haymon's should be producing a lot more.

But since it's been made apparent it's all about the money and you get what you are force-fed. If you dig that, then that's on you.

That's why you gotta love when a fighter like Canelo comes aroun, and fights guys like Trout and Lara who no one knows, because believe it or not, some fighters fight for the passion of the sport, and to be the best.

Just not necessarily Al Haymons guys, by design.

LOL because thats what a MANAGER does right? tells you who you cn and cannot fight. And Haymon also shares his boxing eridition with his charges I am sure.... Some goddamn manager!

people hate al haymon because he made Floyd Mayweather the biggest fighter in the sport. nobody even knew who he was or cared who he was until Floyd became the face of boxing.
