If Al Haymon is so bad.....

Why are so many boxers running over to sign with him? Why are so many fighters turning down lucrative deals/contracts(Thurman, Quillin) and running away from Arum? Out of all of Haymon's fighters not one of them has tried to sue him, get out of there contract with him, talk ill of him or expressed any unhappy feelings towards him that I can remember and why has there been a plethora fighters trying do what I just mentioned to Arum. The only people in the boxing world who I see hate Haymon are a few promoters(arum, duva). Even fighters who aren't signed to him say nothing but good things about him(Hopkins...etc). So please explain this NSB.......What is Haymon doing for these fighters that other managers aren't?

    P.S. serious discussion please.......no trolling.

Says more about the boxer than Haymon. Legacy doesn't mean anything anymore. It's all about the money.

Fighters are turning down lucrative deals/offers to sign with Haymon......it's got to be more than just money, plus haymon's stable is one of the best if not the best in boxing, TONS of legacy fights to be fought under the haymon banner.

This topic has been done to death.

Fighter's love Haymon because he gets them good money for soft touches.

Many fans don't like him because he gets his fighters too many soft touches.

Because there contracts with Haymons say that they can't sign a promotional agreement without his consent. Thurman's and Wilders couldn't do it and Quillin couldn't sign his bout agreement without ALs consent

Bad for boxing not bad for boxers. To mirror the thoughts of the post above he makes it easy for fighters to take bull**** fights and make good money, thus restricting them from taking real match ups. Really the only reason I like Canelo, he seems to be one of the few who actually want to make boxing history, maybe Thurman too but until now his words speak louder than his actions.

soft touches? every manager/promoter does that and he isn't doing it on any level worse than TR or any other promotional company......what's your point?

It's pretty much the general consensus that Haymon is good for his fighters and bad for boxing fans. At least until he has too many fighters to keep busy and it is too long between paychecks.

I'm happy for his fighters if they feel well treated, but as a boxing fan I think he sucks.

I think that statement needs some reflection ..... Especially since this is a Professional sport. Athletes would be extremely foolish and negligent to only concern themselves with glory and or legacy, while their families go hungry or go without the necessities of life.

No one would expect a MLB\NBA\NHL\NFL Professional to do this, why is it expected of Boxers?

Haymon is not a promoter. He's an advisor/manager. It's his job to do what's in the best interest of the fighter and to make as much money as possible for the fighter. A promoters's job is to make as much money as possible for himself (not the fighter), which may or may not coincide with what's best for the fighter.

A manager doing a good job is getting the biggest paydays for the lowest risk possible for their fighter. Why would the average fight fan be cheering for that?
