i think don king was more of a bad guy, and perhaps more damaging to the sport. i don't think it can be argued that he wasn't more damaging to his fighters. king's exploits are well documented. his real heyday was far before my time. i was in grade school or younger when he was with mike tyson, obviously wasn't alive for the thrilla in manilla, etc.
i've met don king. i worked a fight that he was promoting. i've never been in a room with anybody like that. it was like the man had no soul, and intended only to use words and mannerisms manipulate people. you could feel it. he's a true conman. i don't think he could turn it off if he tried. it felt like a robot was talking to you. he was also the best talker i've ever heard. he's tall, very big, and 100% larger than life. he's a gifted, evil dude.
