This thread is crap because the OP is a Haymon defender at all costs. Firstly, all these guys are turning down paydays and getting stripped of titles, what is that doing for the fighter? Aside from Mayweather, name me one Haymon fighter who has made more than 1 million for a fight? The answer is none. How many fighters does Haymon advise, headlined a PPV? The answer is none. How many fights can a fighter pick while under Al Haymon? The answer is none.

Haymon does nothing but talk pretty and sells a fighter on an idea. He promises big pay days, but in reality Top Rank and Golden Boy provide bigger paydays. They also do great things for your career instead of your wallet and make you a better fighter not just throw you in with crap fighters to make you look good. The difference? Top Rank makes you earn the money but they also make you a better fighter and a respectable legacy. Haymon on the other hand gets you million dollar paydays but it's against nobodies and when you do have to step up things like Berto and Garcia vs Herrera happens. Haymon is the easy way out that's the real difference.

I'm not defending rival promoters but dig this. In just about one years span we got Pac-Marquez, Bradley-Marquez, Pac-Bradley from a rival promoter.

This is absolutely wrong on all levels. The origins of pro boxing, or prizefighting, came from poor people, peasants, needing money to feed their family, but they had no other skill in life to make money. The legacy crap naturally came with the territory. The most popular fighters were fighting each other because in return, they made a lot of money. You could be the best, but if you are not the most lucrative option, you are not getting the SRL's, Duran's, Hagler's, or Hearns. They fought each other because they made a lot of money by fighting eachother.

No other manager does anything like that because most other managers are actually managers...Haymon is a silent promoter, master and sole controller of his fighters, and is basically the programming director at a major network that people pay money for (to hopefully watch good fights, which he rarely allows). Stephen Ezpinoza is a jerk but do you really think he was happy about Garcia vs salka or any of these bs special edition Saturday shows to give haymon's guys showcase fights. Of course not. But he has to do what Al says.

Bottom line: He is horrible for boxing and far different than any other manager..because he is not a manager.

It's funny how these Haymon supporters are trying to act like this is the first time fans have hated a promoter for not making fights we want.

Fans ripped Arum for "marinating" Gamboa-Lopez. Many people hated him for wanting to keep Pacquiao fights in house.

Fans should be up in arms over the year Haymon and his fighters have given us. Stop trying to justify it since he's not the first one to do it.

The fighters he works with generally take part in miss-matches.
The fighters love the guy as they get money for mostly easy work..that makes sense.
But why would a fan of the sport be happy with miss-matches / fighters vacating titles / fighters being paid to step a side?

****** post. The point is that Haymon is bad from a fan perspective, he prevents quality fights from being made for a number of reasons. from a fighters perspective he is a sign of an easy paycheck and career preservation.
