Anyone who actually cares about boxing should find what Haymon has done and what he's doing disgusting. It's not even worth debating.
And he is not really a manager. He is a silent promoter and basically the master of the fighters he has under contract...illegal, of course but nobody will do anything about it because boxing isn't considered important in the US anymore
Fighters are turning down lucrative deals/offers to sign with Haymon......it's got to be more than just money, plus haymon's stable is one of the best if not the best in boxing, TONS of legacy fights to be fought under the haymon banner.
His stable is huge, imo, the best in the game. It's a very diverse stable. With that being said.
With that being said, the best should be fighting the best. Every time they step into the ring.
Is that happening over there at Haymons stable with all that talent? NO.
That's bad for boxing. No excuses.
And yes, boxers are running over there to get paid and fight the least amount of risk possible.
That's great for the boxers. What about the fans?
I have nothing against Haymon except for his shorty match-making.
One of those fights was last year, and you are listing three competitive matches for his big fighters one year out of a LOADED roster. I care little for taking sides, I will not vouch for Pac v. Algieri either, but Haymon is definitely bad for boxing, Garcia vs. Salka is all that needs to be said. His "business" model is not feasible long term, just look how terrible Showtime has been for most of the year, they basically blew most of their budget on crap fights.
what is haymon doing that other managers haven't done or tried to do?
