No one who is actually a fan of the sport of boxing can defend Haymon. He is a disaster.

It's hardly a coincidence that the only people defending him on this site are fanboys with a severe emotional attachment to a certain fighter.

As a fighter you're going to flock to the guy offering you $700,000 to fight Rod Salka or whatever.

As a boxing fan you're not going to enjoy that.

Haymon has simply realized that boxing is no longer a mainstream sport and has already been shaken to it roots... Most of the hardcore fans still tuning in for fights will do so no matter how bad the matchup is... No need to spend extra money on competitive fights.

Al Haymon is the absolute worst thing (can't even call him a person) to ever happen to the sport of boxing. Fight fans want to see competitive fights, not cherry picks.

no more than arum or king, in fact haymon's a choir-boy compared to those guys.......you aren't a fan of the sport if you can't admit that, i doubt you'll admit it.

                Yup, exactly.

No one would expect a MLB\NBA\NHL\NFL Professional to do this, why is it expected of Boxers?
You're missing the point he is trying to convey. Getting paid is of primary importance especially in a sport where once greedy promoters reaped the lion shares of what fighters earned.

However, fighters of this generation solely look for the path to greatness with the least resistance which is why fighters of yesteryear are held to such a higher regard because they fought "Whoever, whenever, wherever, however " and didn't use the negotiating table as a tactic to squander potentially GREAT fights.

Can you imagine if SRR turned down a fight with Jake Lamotta because Jake didn't sell enough tickets at the gate in his previous fight before their first encounter?

The point is too many fighters want to be labled great but don't want to take the hard road to greatness by fighting the best at their best no questions asked. Instead, it's about preserving their "0" while collecting the most money possible short changing fans in the process.
