Allegedly Chavez Jr. ran away from $18 million. But according to Chavez Jr, the alleged offers did NOT take place and are all lies. Even Cotto called Arum out in the past about fictitious offers and whatnot. So take from that what it's worth. You can argue about legacy and competitive match-ups all you want, but you cannot sit here and say that Haymon didn't get lots of fighters million dollar paydays. That is incorrect. It is a fact that he got lots of fighters million dollar paydays.
The offer from Top Rank was legit, it just involved Chavez signing an extension for 2 or 3 more fights. The 18 million dollar offer was more than fair and was very true, the only part that was an issue was the extension. Isn't this exactly what they do in sports? The NFL, NBA, MLB you are always offered more money if you sign for a long time, the only time you see one year deals is if a guy had a bad season or is injury prone. For some reason in boxing it means you're signing your life away... you're not. $18 million for 3 fights is about 1-2 years... that sounds A LOT better than $1 million a fight and only fighting once maybe twice a year under Haymon.

As far as Chavez Jr. goes, see what Chavez Jr. say himself about it.

"Nobody has discussed that fight with me. I have had no communication with Top Rank, they are lying," Chavez said."Those are lies, lies, all lies. It is a strategy [by Top Rank], nobody has offered me anything," said Chavez Jr.
"Bob said he offered us $13 million, but he never came to us with that offer," Cotto said. "He always offered us the same guarantee he offered us in 2009, with the same benefits, and that's not fair. He offered the exact same amount of money. Of course it's a business, but all we want is fair business. You can say to Bob to tell me he made that offer to me to my face, and you will see his reaction."Last edited by radioraheem; 11-05-2014, 02:19 PM.

It's hardly a coincidence that the only people defending him on this site are fanboys with a severe emotional attachment to a certain fighter.

Simple Answer! MONEY!
Haymon get his fighters TV Dates and a lot of Money, what fighter wouldn't want that?
Most of his hate is for 1. He is linked to Mayweather, 2. Match Making!
For Promoters, if their fighters contract is almost up, it is a good chance they will lose that fighter to Haymon if he comes calling and shows interest if your fighter. Fighter will follow the money trail, yeah they blow smoke and tell the fans what they want to hear with the "I LOVE THIS SPORT" "I FIGHT FOR PRIDE NOT MONEY" but behind closed doors they're all trying to make the most money possible and rightfully so!

Question is why, as a fan, would you have interest in how much money these fighters make? You're supposed to be concerned only in seeing good fights made. It's understandable if you're a fighter. If you're just a fan and defend mismatches, then you might as well get yourself employed somewhere in the business side of it...

Haymon definitely bad for boxing. He is turning the sport into "entertainment" only. Why? He prevent mandatory fights to happen by advising his fighters to vacant their titles with promises to get another title shot which he can control the outcome of the fight and in the process make a lot more money. This make the Titles meaningless/worthless. Less the name Champion because it no longer has the same meaning. How can any Haymon fighter be great if they cannot face another champion unless he belongs to Haymon. He promises everyone a fight with Floyd but they are told to keep quiet. When Floyd has his opponents already picked. It's a good thing boxers are making all this money but what is it doing for their credibility or for competitive professional boxing?
It's all fixed by Haymon.

Fans are extremely selfish and they make it all about WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE and sometimes they forget about the fighters and they're needs. You see $1 Million and think OK that is enough for the fighter now go fight, but you gotta understand, out of that $1 Million the Manager gets his cut and the fighter have to pay Trainers and everybody else.
Fans have become extremely inconsiderate and disrespectful towards fighters to the point in which fans think they OWN FIGHTERS and can tell them how much they should get and how they should fight in the ring.
Yes right now Haymon is giving us **** fights I agree with that and I don't like it either but lets see how it plays out. I doubt the plan is to just sign all these fighters to match them up against Below Average fighters for big Paydays, I'm sure once his plan is in place (what ever that is) then he will have no problem matching them up. To be honest, most of the fighters he has signed as of late was throw into the fire immediately against Solid OpponentsLast edited by sicko; 11-05-2014, 03:59 PM.

al haymon is a dope dealer. he is using drug money to build his legitimate boxing empire.
all these signing bonuses these fighters are getting are drug money.
there's a reason why the FBI is looking at him.
nobody legitimate hides from the media. especially someone in the freaking entertainment industry.

This is expected of fans and boxers as well as other professional athletes, movie stars and rock stars. They know that their success is owed to their public. The public has every right to the demand what they want otherwise this would be a communist country.
