it may or may not. with that said, Canelo and HBO going head to head with Floyd is highly unlikely.

I like the confidence, but the kid is not the star he thinks he is. He couldn't even sale his last pay per view fight.

The difference is that ShowTime needs enough PPV buys to cover a $32 million guarantee and HBO doesn't. Cotto and Canelo's combined purses will probably be somewhere in the range of $8-10 million. And you already know how stingy Top Rank is with the undercards.
How much will HBO put into marketing and whatnot to win, they will be spending just as much to cut Showtimes throat so their margins will be just as bad.

Both would lose bad in that scenario and that is not something I want to see as it hurts every player in the sport. I want both sides to compete which leads better product, cutting throats like this really only leads to further fracturing of the sport and essentially makes it a fight to the death between the sides.

        Over what? A power play?

Floyd put in his work, he had a full hof level career before he became a ppv powerhouse. Canelo hasn't really done anything of not to further his claim yet. His career has been mediocre at best. There's a saying "stick with the devil u know". Ppl better start realizing it because once Floyd and Manny are gone, trust me, boxing won't be no land of milk and honey.
and thats a problem for who?
if floyd has such a loyal fanbase then he shouldnt have any problem fighting on 4th of july or MLK weekends... floyd running away from maidana did very little to keep his loyal fanbase, lets see if he can compete with canelo-cotto next year... make your predictions...

Canelo is mexican and the rightful heir to the throne. He deserves those dates by birthright and deserves to put on a show for his people and his country. Floyd can fight on the 4th of July.

It's funny that many of you forget about the elephant in the room -- Manny Pacquaio. You can argue that Showtime needs enough PPV buys to cover Floyd's guarantee, but what about Manny Pacquaio? If Floyd is getting $32 million, what do you think Manny Pacquaio is getting with HBO? Because he indeed has a lucrative deal with HBO, it's just never talked about. And you can bet that the deal is at least in the $20 million range.

If Pacquaio and Floyd both fight before Canelo, is it even smart for HBO to put Cotto vs. Canelo on PPV? It will not do numbers on PPV if Floyd and Pacquaio fight separately before Canelo. And they'll both most likely fight before Canelo if Canelo vs. Cotto bout gets scheduled for May.

I'm betting on Mayweather not fighting for awhile
Because they will be going HTH. Maybe not lose but wont be as profitable whenit is not needed

No one cares if those are Mexican holidays. Cinco de mayo from my understanding a "Gringo" holiday that isn't even celebrated in Mexico, nor do Mexicans living in the USA celebrate it.

Those are Floyd's dates, Canelo can keep begging for it though.

Floyd should fight on April Fools Day.

Floyd: I'm coming to fight, I'm going to knock this guy out! TBE!

                      After the fight

Floyd: Sike! Ha! Took all you fools money thinking I was going to fight and not run. Fooled you dummies!
