    Someone's got to budge.

Both PPVs will be hurt if Canelo and Mayweather go head to head.

    Just makes no business sense.

With that said, Canelo doesn't have the star power to take those dates. He can't even pull more than 400,000 ppvs by himself. He has to be matched up extremely well for it to happen. A fight with Cotto is a given. other than that?
        may : cotto
september : cotto rematch, pacman, chavez jr, ggg...

Maybe the plan is to have him fight both Cotto and Pacquiao.

Would be awful business for all to go head to head but I wouldn't be shocked if Showtime and Mayweather accepts the Challenge

Lets be honest, Mayweather would still outsell Canelo because Mayweather is by far the bigger draw and has the Casual American Fans who actually do spend money, but his numbers would take a significant hit and HBO I am sure would love nothing more than to take numbers away form Showtime and Mayweather

But yeah maybe it does force Mayweather to do something BOLD for his last 2 Fights of his career if he has some head to head competition

That being said, Mayweather is the bigger draw so he should be able to move and fight at any date, those dates don't automatically=BIG NUMBERS but having those dates for a Mexican fighter like Canelo HELPS!

He's not fighting Pac. Give up on that. Cotto rematch? Maybe but I Dont expect either fight to sell crazy numbers. Best bet would be Chavez Jr. But that's not happening in all likelihood Jr isn't interested in working with top rank.

Boxing fans are so dumb. They still don't realize that casuals run ppv. The only thing casuals know about Cotto-Canelo is that they got owned by Floyd and Pac who are still by far the 2 biggest stars in the sport. Cotto-Canelo is a hardcore fans dream.

To casuals its just a runners up, 2nd rated matchup which is why both guys just had huge fights that couldn't do 400k. Floyd may fight Pac but it has nothing to do with them. I bet anything that a Khan fight out sells them head to head because the casuals will always go with a Floyd or Pac fight over there son's

I wouldn't be surprised if they dragged Ricardo mayorga out and threw him in as an opponent
