The real problem with this is Canelo had his chance to take those dates the right way. He failed miserably. He got shut out and embarrassed in front of millions. Now he essentially wants to be handed those dates when he's done little to actually earn them, besides being born Mexican. People claim Floyd is entitled. Floyd put in his work, he had a full hof level career before he became a ppv powerhouse. Canelo hasn't really done anything of not to further his claim yet. His career has been mediocre at best. There's a saying "stick with the devil u know". Ppl better start realizing it because once Floyd and Manny are gone, trust me, boxing won't be no land of milk and honey.

How do you know they will lose money? I can guarantee you Canelo and Cotto's combined purses will be way less than Mayweather's guaranteed 32 million. They won't need to sell nearly as much to make money

I'm betting on Mayweather not fighting for awhile

Are they seriously going to sign a suicide pact like that, HBO can't make Showtime lose enough to hurt them and them thinking like that would result in them spending just as much.

Think about it for a second that is an absolutely terrible scenario for the sport and could lead to both ending or even if one ends in this fight to the death where does that leave competition.

HBO and Showtime being at each other throat, it would be much better if the sides could be civil and work for the common good of the sport. But this is boxing and everything in the sport is about eviscerating the opposition.

Thomas and Mack is garbage that is not competition. If I never step foot in that building ever again it will be too soon.

Canelo_Cotto would go to MSG most likely, with an off chance of Texas due to the better tax structure.

Its great because it will force May to take a credible fight or the fight fans have wanted for nearly 5 years. They'll also have to have a great undercard if he ducks the Pac fight still.

Canelo/Cotto is already being set for May so that's pretty much a given. Either they will go head to head or somebody's going to budge. With the egos involved, I don't see that happening.

The difference is that ShowTime needs enough PPV buys to cover a $32 million guarantee and HBO doesn't. Cotto and Canelo's combined purses will probably be somewhere in the range of $8-10 million. And you already know how stingy Top Rank is with the undercards.

Floyd's 2 fights away, maybe 3, from going away. Most athletes get the torch passed to them, he's trying to take it after his poor performance vs Floyd. That kinda rubs me the wrong way. Gee has a good decade+ left in him. Hell, even a possible rematch with Floyd if he wanted. idk. I'm thinking and typing at the same time
Earn what? To fight on that date? It's a date, he doesn't have to earn anything to fight on a date.

Did all these other fighters have to 'earn' this date when Mayweather fought Maidana two weeks ago?.
                    http://boxrec.com/date_search.php?yyyy=2014&mm=09&dd=13

It's not like he was saying I'm going to be P4P #1 or the champion at this weight division, that he will have to earn.

I think people need to remember that Floyd is probably never going to work with GBP again. It's going to take him some time to get everything fully organized before TMT can be completely independent to promote big budget PPV fights of that magnitude.
